So I’ve been prescribed Provera (tablets) 10mg 3x a day to treat severe endo and stop my periods. I started taking it on Friday on day 1 of my cycle and I think it’s causing a huge flare as the pain is unbearable and I can’t move- taking oramorph every 2-3 hours and it’s only just taking the edge off. Does anyone else have experience of this? Can’t find much online at all
Have had 2 laparoscopies and have previously been on Prostap and Zoladex injections but now limited as to what I can take due to severe hypotension and kidney problems
Thanks in advance

I have taken provera for the last 2 years, started on 10mg a day and then upped to 15mg has had breakthrough bleeding, my experience was good, the only downside was I lost a lot of weight and went down to 7stone 3IIb and looked quite ill.
I stopped taking it recently to see if I can cope without any medication and it seems alright I have good days and bad days.
Hey, thank you so much for replying. I’m glad it helped you- do you remember having a flare up when you first started on it? I am in so much pain and still a week after starting it- it seems to be making things worse rather than better at the moment! Hope I don’t lose weight on it- have only just managed to start putting weight on- I also went down to under 8 stone previously! I wish you luck with coming off the meds and hope you stay well. Xxx
Hi, it took about 6 weeks to settle in as in the beginning I felt sick and dizzy with it, I found that taking a lower dosage helped as the more I took the worse I felt, why don't you try the 10mg a day and then if it doesn't help up the dosage.
I also had the zoladex injections which I thought were horrendous but it was to try and shrink the endo before my surgery. Unfortunately I also have adenymiosis as well the endo so surgery hasn't helped, my last consultant said I could keep taking the provera untiI I get to menopause which if I follow my mum should be soon.
Thank you. I’ve started on 30mg straight away and still bleeding after a week. Spoke to my consultant who said to try Tranexamic acid aswell for a few days which seems to be helping sporadically! I’ve had 2 surgeries now but only seems to take 3/4 periods after each for it to come back and have really bad adhesions also. Really is the worst disease on the planet! I’m still 20 years off the menopause but found chemical menopause from zoladex gave me the most release. Thanks for your advice, really appreciate it xx
Your more than welcome, I've been on the tranexamic as well for the bleeding and it helped me alot, try and stick with it and I hope it settles down soon xx
I've been on Anastrozole tablets since 2006.
I also have Zoladex injections.
I don't know if you could take Anastrozole if you cannot have Zoladex but they work in a different way. You could ask. I don't have the knowledge but I couldn't cope without those two things.
Thank you, I will definitely do some research into it and speak to my Gynae consultant about it. It’s so tough finding something that works that you can be on long term. I would go back on zoladex in a heartbeat but they won’t let me 👎🏼 Thanks for the advice xx
