Pain following lap

I had an unexpected lap and thus excision surgery over two weeks ago. My recovery has been quite straight forward, I am just exhausted.

However.. I have now been on for a little over a week. My pain is exactly the same as before. Horrendous. I have hardly slept, I cannot concentrate and find myself bed bound.

I’ve been trying to contact my GP for some pain relief as I’ve been back at work since Friday!! I’ve heard nothing back from them and feel a little disheartened that even though I have now been officially diagnosed, they just aren’t taking me seriously...

I’m tired. So very, very tired...

Has anyone else still suffered this lack of understanding and help despite diagnosis?

Mine was two weeks ago, pain is still there. Tried going to work today, lasted half.

Went through the whole thing of GP’s ignoring last year.

If your surgery has the new econsult form or similar use this. It seems to work quicker. My surgery says three days, but normally respond the following day. They know I’m not happy about last year.

I’m taking Nefopam as well as paracetamol and ibuprofen, seems to work.

Hope you feel better soon

I have felt the same went back to work following a laparoscopy. Felt well now stabbing pains and a ultra scan today. Taking Naproxen but Gp has lack of understanding.

I’ve got Naproxen as well, I was taking it before lap, the hospital gave me the Nefopam which I think is better at the moment.

I emailed the surgery last week as to why they ignored all the physical symptoms, still waiting a response.

Hope you feel better soon

As I began typing my reply my GP called to say that they want to see me this morning! The relief of them actually reading my eConsult (Thanks moon_maiden! They are so useful. Been using it for yonks!!) and thinking I should be seen. Fingers crossed 🤞

You've just had surgery, of course you're in pain. If you're not ready to go back to work, you're not ready, and you need to prioritise your healing. Sounds like you might need to ask to be signed off for another week. It can take a long time to heal internally from excision. It should get better, but I definitely needed 3 weeks off, and when I came back, I needed to leave early at the beginning and really take it easy. The fatigue started to get considerably better after maybe 6 weeks, but I was still tired until the 3 month mark. Hope you feel better soon. xxx
