Severe diarrhoea following lap - help!

Hi everyone, I got home last night from hospital following my lap and at about 1:00am was woken up in a lot of pain and then had severe diarrhoea (I went around 5-6 times). Sorry this is tmi but my stools are liquid and my stomach keeps rumbling and making very load gurgling noises?! I took a diarolyte satchet last night and managed to eventually settle. Then I was woken up at 7:00am this morning with the same thing but I have no idea how many times I went it was horrible I just kept going and going. I've just had another bout of diarrhoea, god knows how many times I've been now. I don't have a temperature but my stomach is really not happy! I'm getting really bad pain in my ribs and feel very swollen.

What can I do to make this better? I'm so sore I just want to sleep 😓 Please help.

Hiya, I have had exactly the same thing. I had my Lap Friday and this morning it's awful, I can not get off the toilet! The pains in my ribs and chest are so bad too. The hospital gave me nonafter care leaflet or any systems to look out for which are normal/ abnormal. Literally just my discharge letter and that was it. X

I'm exactly the same! I've just checked my discharge letter and it just says to contact the hospital with any concerns. My sisters fiancé is a doctor I've just text him to see if I should go to hospital, I'll let you know what he says/ any advice. He might be working so I may not get a response for quite a while but I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Daffer31 I've spoken to my sisters fiancé he's said the following:

•Sip water small amounts and often.

•eat dry toast again small amounts and often if you can.

•Take diarolyte (if you can) to help prevent dehydration.

•Avoid loperamide and Imodium.

•Seek medical advice if: you can't eat, fever, blood black stools, the pain can't be controlled.

Mine has finally stopped but I've still got terrible gas and cramps. Hope you're feeling better!

Xx

Have you tried warm peppermint cordial? I was in more pain from the wind and swelling than I was the actual surgery, so lots of ibuprofen and peppermint cordial literally made it go within the hour x

Thank you for responding, I haven't got peppermint cordial but will peppermint tea work? I've been drinking peppermint to before and after surgery to help with wind. It feels like there's a battle going on in my stomach right now!

I didn't find peppermint tea touched it but that could just have been me, the peppermint cordial literally made it all shift straight out even though it tasted rancid and made me want to gag! x

I'm sorry 😢 I hope your op went well? 😮 I would personally if it carries on go to the doctor 😮 It might ba reaction to the anaesthetic 🤔 Make sure you drink lots it will remove the anaesthetic and make you not dehydrated 😮 Try lemon water and peppermint tea 🤔

Thanks Abi, they did say I'd had a bad reaction to something (possibly the anaesthetic). Had a rough time of it after my op and I'm waiting for them to confirm whether it was an allergic reaction . Thank you I'll try that, it's finally settled down - I've just got terrible gas! Xx

I've been drinking so much peppermint tea before and after the op. I didn't have this bad gas yesterday then all of a sudden it started out of no where. I'll get my partner to make a peppermint tea for me now. The pressure is unreal but I guess it's because of the Co2 gas they inflated me with. Feels like my insides are red raw 😥

The op was quite long so more Co2 gas was used which means I'll be more gassy (I've just been told). They found severe endo and removed as much as they could but I've got to see a specialist about the endo on my bowel and pouch of douglas. I don't know the full extent of it yet but at least I'm finally getting answers. Hope you're doing ok xx

At least they managed to remove some stuff 😊 My gynae didnt remove any and referred me to a specialist only just got an appointment over a month later if you get inpatient waiting to be referred talk to your doctor my doctor basically sent them a letter saying I need to be seen sooner 😉 Have you had an mri? 🤔 I'm powering through I finally get to see a specialist and my doctor is finally listening to me since I've lost 6lbs over christmas 😂

I think sometimes they can do more damage than good if they have no experience of endo. My gyne has experience but not with the bowel/ rectum so I'm glad he left it. You've really been through it! Hopefully things will start looking up now. Don't even get me started on doctors!! I haven't had an MRI no. Can you change your doctor? Losing weight is a sign something is wrong what is wrong with theses people?! I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you, hope you start getting some answers soon xx
