You can try before or after surgery and they usually give you 6 month to a year before ivf

Can you start trying again immediately after surgery?

It’s down to how you feel so yes immediately

Hi, I'd advise waiting at least 4 to 6 weeks to have sex post op. Especially when the bowel is involved. The external wounds heal quickly but inside is different. You could risk infection. My doctors have always said to wait for at least one period post op and at least 4 weeks to have sex. My last op has been a great success. We started trying after 4 weeks. I was told the first 3 to 6 months were crucial and high chance of concieving. We concieved 5 months later, naturally, and I'm now 13 weeks pregnant with a so far very healthy baby. Prior to this we tried and failed or had failed pregnancy for nearly 4 years. Good luck. Take it easy. You only get one chance to recover from your op and its so so important to give yourself the best chance at healing well.

Personally, my plan was to wait for one cycle to pass to allow for healing and also to allow things to return to normal. Your cycles may be disrupted by the surgery, especially if you had anything excised from the ovaries themselves -- they won't be in tip top condition immediately. I think it was something like 6 weeks before I felt ready to try again.

I’d wait till after first period. First period could be delayed after gynae surgery and is normally quite nasty and then everything settles after.
