Hi, I saw my gynae today for the first time in about 6 years. I have been having increasingly painful periods over the past 6 months (they have always been bad but now they are worse). I am 34 and mid cycle at the moment. Has anyone else experienced pain after an examination? My doctor was lovely, she was very gentle but used a metal speculum and it did pinch a bit as my cervix was tilted so she couldn’t see it all. She removed it and used her fingers while pressing on my tummy. She has given me 2 options, a laparoscopy or zoladex injections after having tried the mirena and various types of pop pill and injection. I have no idea what the best option is!
I have been curled up with a hot wheat bag and pain killers since. It’s just a dull period pain feeling and I feel completely wiped out.
Is this pain normal for endo? I am in a lesbian relationship and not had penetrative sex in years but I seem to recall the same feeling afterwards.
When my GP and gynae did the internal examination where they also press on your stomach it really hurt! And had pain for the next 4/5 days. I’m waiting on laparoscopy to find out what’s going on. He said if they see any endo they’ll try and remove it, or at least map where it’s at (not sure exactly what that means). I just want to know as don’t think these pains as normal. He didn’t even recommend anything else as have tried taking the pill long term as well but still in pain. And do want a family at some point as well. The way I see going for laparoscopy is - is that they can possibly remove any endo that’s there, and you actually have a diagnosis xx
