Bladder/Pelvic Pain after Laparoscopy

Hey,

Hope everyone is keeping well!

I had a laparoscopy 4 weeks ago and have had no symptoms since until now. For the last few days I am needing to pee frequently and also in a lot of pain (central pelvic area).

This did happen for a few weeks before my laparoscopy but settled down after. I am so annoyed that it has come back as thought I would be asymptomatic for a lot longer post surgery.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I did have to stay in hospital overnight as was unable to urinate so had to have an emergency catheter in. Not sure if this is related :(

Any advice would be much appreciated!

could you have a water infection might just be your nerves healing up after op

Where about are you in your cycle do you think it could be related to that?

Hi Plotments. Thank you so much for your reply.

I am a few days away from ovulating. Today the pain was so intense I had to take a longer break at work. 😢

Have booked in to see my gynaecologist in a few days so will hopefully get to the bottom of it soon.

I had this after my laparoscopy too. It could be that the operation is still settling. In my case it didn't and I had to have physio to correct it. However its not said the same thing would happen to you.

Give it time but if it doesn't improve in 6 months, go back your Dr.

Hi Bubble_by,

Thank you for your message. I'm so sorry to hear that and hope everything is ok for you now.

I was feeling much better after the operation with absolutely no pain. Just finding it a bit strange how 4 weeks on, the pain is so intense.

Hopefully will gets some answers soon. x

Hi RR2, hope you are doing better! I was wondering if you ever got answers to your pelvic pain after lap? I had mine 10 days ago and had stage 4 excised (bladder, bowel etc) I felt fine during the first week and no pelvic pain at all but the past few days I have really bad pelvic cramping and pain. Think I may have over done it a bit by walking around too much and trying to get back to normal. Wondering whether to contact the doctor or if it’s all normal healing! Thanks

Hi Mintypop,

Sorry to hear about your painful recovery!

Unfortunately, I am still experiencing bladder pain/pressure. I seen my consultant who carried out the laparoscopy and she thinks it may be interstitial cystitis. I have been referred to a urologist for further tests.

Recovery is different for everyone, but if you feel the pain is not settling down it is always a good idea to get checked.

Hope things settle down for you soon.
