Tampons!

Hi everyone. Does anyone else suffer with uncomfortable and dry feeling when using tampons on your period? I always used to use tampons and didn’t like pads at all because they made me feel dirty but since my lap, my flow is quite light so I have been using the smallest tampons, the ‘lite’ ones but even they feel uncomfortable sometimes. I can’t wear tampons all day anymore, I end up taking them out and using a pad most of the day which can be frustrating as I feel a bit gross! 😳 any advice will be greatly appreciated! ❤️

I've never got on with tampons for the same reason. A few years back I started using a menstrual cup. It took a while to find the right one as they are different shapes and firmness, and to get the knack of using it but I'm really happy with mine. They are internal, clean, do not dry you out and can be used whatever your flow. I appreciate some women are grossed out by the idea of them, it's a personal thing. I did lots of reading on them online and watched YouTube videos on them before deciding to take the plunge. Might be an option for you. Feel free to ask me any questions if you think it is :)

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I have a moon cup already and I’ve used it a few times, I got on okay with it but it started to make me feel a bit sick when I was putting it in! I think because it’s so personal putting it in you really have to get up in there 😂😳 I think I might give it another try! Xx

I know right!😂. I have a lunette which is a little softer than a mooncup. I actually found the whole process more comfortable and quicker with a little lube first. Might be worth persisting with it. X

I second this with the menstrual cup. I get that same feeling a lot with tampons, they’re so uncomfortable to me now!

While you’re getting used to it, try practicing inserting and removing it in the bath or the shower. It takes some getting used to, but I wouldn’t be without it now! Xx

I swear by Thinx pants. On a light day, they’re all you need. They’re also great for non-period travel days, long flights or long road trips. google them. Worth the cost, they last years (my oldest pair is 5-6 years old). I’m totally confident wearing a dress or skirt during my period with these. There are lots of other options now as well- modi bodi, etc.

Hi DEvangeline

Im with knjr4’s comment period pants are the way forward! I use modibodi - my periods are super heavy and and the heavy flow pants can cope with it.

There is still a bit of a gross factor with period pants but they feel less gross than pads - and added advantage they are better for the environment.

I can’t use tampons anymore either - they cause me quite a lot of pain and I found a moon cup painful too- also I found the moon cup a bit messy - just couldn’t get the hang of it!

Good luck 😀
