Am I right in thinking that if we have an issue of blood / endo lining residing within the body we would be better off wearing pads rather than tampons. Is there any science behind this? Jut trying to work out what else I might be able to do to ease this..

Tampons or pads
I've never heard that tampons contribute to endo but I couldn't manage with pads alone because I already have accidents with tampon and pad together. TBH I think it's clutching at straws - the theory is that menstrual blood flows up the fallopian tubes and gets into the abdominal cavity that way so by the time it's gone down through the cervix it's already heading in the right direction out of the body.
Actually tampons don't contribute to endo. What I would be worried about when it comes to tampons or menstraul cups is whenever your in pain you tense up and do a kegel. When you do a kege you tighten up the muscles in your pelvic floor and a tampon meanings your tightening around an object so therefore your muscles will tighten more and your pain will be worse.
Hey Oxfordendo2016 ,
I don't think tampons contribute to endo but I do know that it adds more pressure to the lower abdomen when you are on your period hence amplifying the cramps. I've spent years wearing tampons cuz I can't wear pads without getting a rash or getting leaks for that matter. But I recently tried out menstrual cups and I'm never looking back! It's a bit tricky for first time use but it's really comfortable to wear and u save up on tons of money cuz you can keep it up to 10 years. Try buying it online and do start with the smallest diameter size. Here are 2 of my suggestions if you're interested to try. I use both of them and Me Luna is my most recent one that I prefer better than the other.
1. Me Luna Sporty, basic (no stem), small size
2. Diva cup, size 1
Hope this could be a solution for u
I agree about the fact that tampons can add to pain - I stopped wearing them as much because of it.
If you are trying to cope with heavy bleeding the. I would recommend the cup as I've not leaked/bypassed using it at all. This is just my first cycle using it but it really isn't that complicated. If you are used to using tampons then give it a go. It's great for the environment too. I find that because of the material it doesn't dry you out inside like tampons which absorb the moisture. Obviously there are benefits for your purse and for the environment too which makes good sense to me. I bought mooncup but I'm aware that there are different brands so do your research first. Good luck,
