I was told recently by a fellow endo sufferer to not use tampons. She said her consultant had told her that especially in relation to trying to concieve as well as general endo symptoms. Just wondering if anyone else has had this advice too and of any known link?
Thanks!

I haven't heard of a link to when trying to conceive. I personally wouldn't be able to use Tampons as it hurts to much and Dr said it was best to let the blood flow rather than trapping it in?
I don't think there's any hard evidence regarding a link between tampons and TTC. With regard to endo, my own experience is that they are too painful and uncomfortable to insert.
Personally I don't like the idea of tampons. Here's an interesting article on the subject endoempowered.com/use-tampo...
I use Natracare pads made from organic, chlorine-free, non-perfumed cotton. The vaginal area is highly absorbant when it comes to chemicals. It's a case of what is healthy and natural over what is "convenient".
I had a lap just over a year ago and was told I have stage 4 endo. I was asked if I used tampons to which I gave her a puzzled look and said "yes, and have been for many, many years". My surgeon said that there is a link between endo and using tampons - my understanding is, that it prevents the blood flowing freely and can get 'backed up or clotted' which may contribute to chocolate cysts etc. As I am waiting to start IVF again in July I was advised not to use tampons again as it could cause problems. I didn't ask too many questions but have decided to take their advice - which was a private clinic. Best of luck with whatever you decide. x
Music1 and others thanks for your replies and time. I guess there is mixed advice but it's interesting that some surgeons expressly advise against use. Given I'm Ttc and don't want the endo to return, I think I will persevere and try the pads. I did over the weekend and it took some getting used to again!
