Unexplained Gyne problems/ wanting to plan a family

Hi

I wonder if anyone is in the same boat? Since I remember I've had endless problems with very painful and heavy periods, pain during and after sex and constant pain and bloating.

I've been on numerous contraceptives to reduce or stop periods, currently have Minerva coil fitted.

All of the above has been investigated, internal/ external ultra sounds. All of the ultra sounds point to endometriosis.

Yet laparoscopy showed nothing? Other then a ovarian cyst, which was drained.

Since, these investigations I've gone back to my GP who has given me painkillers, and even said the pain is down to IBS.

I know I should've done more to push, but I've ended up with anxiety as I'm always made to feel I'm making it up so I cant go to the GP. :(

Me and my partner are now thinking of starting a family, but I'm worried about all of the unexplained problems I have . . . I'm concerned for my fertility or if these have problems make conceiving hard.

I dont know who to speak to?

Has anyone experienced anything similar? What action did you take?

thanks

Danii

Xx

I experienced similar for a number of years before I finally got a diagnosis. Even if they found it wasn't endometriosis, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be investigating what is causing the problems! Sadly a lot of times you get fobbed off and they just tell you to take another pill to mask the problems...

You can ask to be referred to a specialist gynaecologist, I did that a few years back now. They know much more than a GP and can refer you to pain management and so on. I found their input helpful and they understood what I was saying.

As for fertility, usually you can be referred for help if you've been trying for a year without success. They would then do tests on your tubes and check everything is 'working' OK. After that they would then look at fertility medication if you require it, for things like ovulation and regulation of that so I've been told.

But you won't really know about conceiving until you try, some women get pregnant very quickly, others don't.

I don't know if any of that is helpful, but try not to stress too much about it. I'd say go back to your GP and ask to be referred

Hi Danii sorry you have these symptoms too. They are the same as mine. Have you had an MRI? This diagnosed me with adenomyosis and for years I was told I have IBS and sent away by the GP. Luckily I moved and changed GP who took me seriously. Xx
