Can a Laparoscopy cause more damage?

I'm soon to be booked in for my second Laparoscopy, my first being around 4 years ago fro the removal of a dermoid ovarian cyst. This one is for suspected Endo after an MRI which suggested that I may have adhesions on the posterior womb and thickening. I asked my consultant if the damage could have been caused by the previous operation and he said it was possible. I've now spoken to a friend who has previously undergone 4 Laparoscopy's and has just undergone a Hysterectomy. She said that the damage present and causing the Hysterectomy was caused by the previous operations.

Is it common for a Laparoscopy to cause more adhesions?

Hi,

Yes doctors say surgery could cause more adhesions. So it Carrie's a degree of risk but you have to weigh the pros versus the cons. Also, a lot of people unknowingly get ablation surgery for endo, which means the endo is burned off thereby causing more issues over time. The best surgery for endo is excision surgery and this ensure the endo is cut off from the root and reduces the risk of it returning in that spot.

Some people benefit from pre and post-surgery pelvic therapy and myofascial massage therapy which helps with the scarring and tightening.

Hope this helps.

All the best.
