I am also 5 days post op, I took mine off after 48hrs then replaced them with new ones, she said to keep the new ones on until Monday. She said I could shower with the new ones so have been able to do so

I found taking them off whilst looking in the mirror really helped. I was nervous to look, so I looked at my reflection instead, which softened the blow as it were.

I found the information from the hospital about when to take them off was rubbish, so I went to see the nurse at my GP surgery, who was lovely and really helped.

she was so lovely. She checked them, cleaned them and also clarified about bathing (I don’t have a shower)

I'm 5 days post op too. I changed my bandages yesterday. My bottom incision has wept slightly. Forgot how sore and painful it all is after the op. Xx

you can take them off, I re covered mine to help them not get brushed by anything. Avoid wearing anything tight x

I just used water and made sure I got all the dry blood / sticky residue off from the plasters. Make sure you don’t rub them when drying, pat with cotton pads and ensure they are 100% dry before you cover them again x

I kept mine covered for a total of 2 weeks but that was just to avoid and infection/ irritation- you don’t need to xx

I washed in the shower just gently wiping the dry blood etc , try not to get any soap on them until they’re fully healed. You can get waterproof plasters to so you can wash your hair and everything else once they’re clean and covered xx
