Hi ladies,
I am having my laparoscopy next week but have just realised that i will be on my period, probably day 2 of my period.
Will they still operate?
I'm worried now that i will be put back on the waiting list 😔
Hi ladies,

Hey, I don’t think you can be on your period whilst having it. I think I read that before I had mine but I was taking the pill back to back so didn’t think too much of it as it wouldn’t affect me. It might be different for each hospital. Is there any way you can delay your period? Xx
Ahh really 😏No i can't delay mine, i don't get on with any contraceptives.
I just read my admission letter & it says - "For fertility patients please check the date of admission against your period, as your operation can not be performed whilst menstrating.
I am not a fertility patient so presuming this dosen't affect me so i should be fine 🤔
I googled it & it was all contradicting.
i am so confused 🙈 it dosen't take much to confuse me! 😂🙈 x
Ah I’m not sure then. Is it just for endo that you’re having it? When I had mine it was for a diagnosis, treatment and to help with fertility. You’d be better off ringing the hospital as they’ll be able to decide what’s best x
I have exactly the same issue at the moment, mine is on Saturday and I don’t know if I will have stopped bleeding! It’s horrible because you wait so long only to possibly be turned away, I bleed for weeks some months! It’s easier to plan a day when I am than not 😂
I have my pre op tomorrow and it is one of my questions, if they can tell me I will let you know what they say! I hope everything goes well for you!
I replied to main post, before my first op I checked and it wasn’t an issue, he said it can make it easier to see Endo.Hope you don’t have any issues, I’m sure you’ll be ok 🙂 let us know how you go
This is so reassuring, thank you so much! It’s really been on my mind so I feel much more relaxed now ☺️
I think it doesn't matter. I've read on a post previously regarding same situation and it seemed that they can still do the surgery. Just double check by phoning them
I asked this of Gynae before my first op. He said it made no difference and he said it’s easier to see Endo sometimes. Don’t be embarrassed they’ll have seen it so many times before. Let us know how you get on 🙂
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm starting to feel more positive now. So disheartening if our periods got in the way.. as if our periods don't give us enough hassle 🙈
That’s great 🙂 is this your first op?
They really do get in the way. I don’t see other animals having this sort of trouble. 😂
Haha yh true😂Yh this is my first laparoscopy. I feel really nervous but glad to finally get answers & help.
Xx
I was petrified before mine, never had an op and I was past the fifty year mark 😂 I was a wreck. That was Feb 2020, had hysterectomy since and it was like get it done and get rid of pain 🤣 There isn’t anything to be scared about. It’s not hundred percent fool proof, but incredibly rare and the theatre staff are so knowledgeable.
Take a small overnight bag in case you’re late down and they keep you in. Phone and charger a must, maybe book, I found phone more distracting with games.
Please ask anything 🙂
Please let me know how it goes I’m still waiting for my date for my first laparoscopy, crapping myself already 😬 x
