Hi I know I already asked if it was possible to have a sigmoidoscopy on your period and people said yes, but I started today and my appointment is this afternoon and I'm so stressed about it even more now
I cant use tampons because (tmi) my entire vagina hurts on my period so will I have to just lay there and make a mess? I feel so gross and worried about it

It should be fine, are they doing it under local or general anaesthetic?
You could ring your specialists secretary to ask and explain, I'm sure you're not the only one in that situation; they've seen everything!
When I had my lap I didn't have knickers on, they just wedged a pad up in the right position, not sure how it works with the sigmoidoscopy perhaps they do something similar...
I try to think of periods as they are just bleeding from an organ! Which it literally is, so it's not horrible in that sense - I think the stigma comes from that being untalked about and that it can smell - which actually when I did work experience at a hospital I found all open ulcer type wounds smell that way so it's not actually a "period" thing lol!
Sorry not much help, just trying to help you feel a little better, definitely explain to the doctor or receptionist or nurse - just say you need to explain a sensitive matter before your appointment.
ah I see, hmm fold it over lengthways so the sticky bit sticks to itself, and then wedge it up between, kind of difficult to explain! I've had to do that before my lap! I think they'll have stuff for that kind of thing if you mention it.xx
