Pre op for Lap

Can anyone advise me how long the pre op is valid for? I have an event to attend on September 7th and I have my pre op on Wednesday, this is my first one so I have no idea what to expect and I'm hoping it won't be before my event. The pre op date and event date are 3 weeks and 3 days between each other.

Thanks!

I think it's three months. So you need to have your operation within 3 months of your pre-op otherwise you'll need another.

The pre-op is just with nurses, they'll go through your planned operation, what you're having done, weight, height, allergies, they'll take blood and check your blood pressure, all that sort of stuff. They may take a urine sample too. It helps them prep for your operation.

The pre-op won't be anything that disrupts your everyday stuff, it's pretty much like a long GP appointment or a long vaccination appointment in a hospital / center.

Hope that answers your question x

Yes that answers it perfectly thank you so much. I just really can't miss this event on September 7th and I had it in my head that I would be having the operation within 4 weeks of my pre op!

At my local hospital they districts valid for six months 😡 I did state that things can change in that time period and if they tested for mrsa 6 months earlier what's to say I'm still clear on the operation day. I had over 5 month wait from pre up to surgery.

Hi, pre op is meant to be up to three months, mine was just over, so they took another blood test two days before the actual op. Nothing to worry about, pre op is just a lovely chat with a nurse who will know her stuff and talk you through absolutely everything. If you have any questions that you’re not sure about the nurse will be able to put your mind at ease too. It won’t impact your event.

Good luck for it all xx

I’ve had two pre-ops and still no date scheduled so even though 3 months is the guide it’s different for different areas
