Hi all, had a laparoscopy done and they found endo. Was a shocked as didn't even knw what endometriosis was, they thought i had pelvic inflammatory disease and was just checking everything was ok. I've got my post op appointment on the 6th August, just wondering what questions do u ask the consultant? Thanks as haven't got a clue and don't want to go unprepared 🙂
Post op appointment : Hi all, had a... - Endometriosis UK
Post op appointment
I hope you’re feeling Ok - post lap and finding out can be tough so take it easy and let your body recover.
Definitely take a list of questions! It’s easy to forget what you want to ask. I’d start by researching endometriosis so you can have a meaningful chat. Some questions could be: how severe is it and where is it? What are the treatment options? - the pill or coil can be enough to manage or there are more options if they don’t manage it. Is it worth getting removed? Impact on fertility? Endo can impact fertility but it’s difficult to know as it’s affects everyone differently and isn’t related to severity.
If you have any symptoms it’s worth making a note but realise you may not if you went in for something else.
It’s also worth thinking about having someone go with you - I found it useful as then you have two people remembering all the answers and won’t forget anything! Appointments can fly by and feel so important that they go in a blur.
The Endo UK has a great website and info on first appointments and advice. I hope you recover quickly and good luck at your appointment! 😊
Do you have painful or heavy periods? The first time they found out I had endo was when I had an ectopic. So I was very keen to ask them about effects on fertility, in my follow up appointment.
I had a laparoscopy yesterday to treat my endo. We are so keen to start a family.
I would definitely read up in endo before your appointment like LisaJL said 😁
Take care xx
I had never heard of endo when I was told that I had got it. Plus mine was so severe that I had to have a hysterectomy at: 28 years old. At your appointment tell them about all of your symptoms, what they found when you had your operation. What they think could help your endo ?
