Anyone had endo develop in a c-section scar?
My pain seems to be mainly on the right hand side of my c-section scar, lump behind it and swelling. Due to have full hysterectomy 13th August and asked my consultant to take a look at the scar too. Just wanting to know what to expect? will they open the whole scar and look?
I have no idea about endo in or around the scar, but I've read on a different forum that the person performing the c-section can f you up for years. There was a woman describing her case - c-section, unexperienced still learning doc, 2 years of pain after, reduced mobility, pain when performing daily tasks, feeling of squeezing in the area. 2 years later while having her second child again with c-section with much better doc, he managed to fix everything, she had a lot of improper scarring tissue that needed to be removed. She recovered completely and the old problems went away.
I know personally another c-section case in which the doc cut too deep and perforated the uterus, the woman had no idea and years later lost a baby in a Ectopic pregnancy, due to the hole left.....

Of course your case is different, but for sure shows c-section complications can occur even if everything looks perfect.
When did you had it performed? Do you have any other issues with the tissue around the scar?
My son will be 13 end of November. He was emergency c-section. I got an infection in one side while i was still in hospital and it took ages for it to heal. Since then it's always hindered everything to do with that area. Certain times of the month it is worse and pain goes all down my leg. One side worse than the other.
Hi, I didn’t have any evidence of Endo until 6 years after my c-section. A mass grew in the abdominal wall and when removed they found it to be Endo. It reoccurred within 6months and I have been suffering lots of Endo symptoms since. Under specialist team now who had to go in and remove the mass again along with abdominal muscle and wide area of abdominal wall to try and remove all the cells and prevent it returning. Not sure I can answer your question about what to expect as it wasn’t connected to my scar. I do know they are unsure a hysterectomy would work as the mass and symptoms seem to be functioning separate from the usual system! If you think it’s Endo that has grown I would suggest discussing this with your doctors as you may need it removing to prevent further issues.

yes it sounds familiar. I can feel a lump and see it at one side. Gets worse when i have hormones flowing through. I'm hoping they remove this lump and fit it during surgery
Scar endometriosis needs excision i think
I have endo on my scar too, had it excised 3 years ago by a general gynae who didn't quite get it all so it has recurred straight away. Like Boxermomma I also suffer from symptoms other than the pain, mostly fatigue and I am now under a specialist, awaiting surgery to excise endo and adhesions that have been picked up on an MRI. I am also going to get a Mirena while I am under anaesthetic. I discussed a hysterectomy and he did say that it would reduce the chances of recurrence but not eliminate.

Currently on decapeptyl injections which stop my ovaries sending hormones out. This has helped with the pain. I tried oestrogen patches for hrt and the pain was unreal so had to stop. Hopefully they'll find something to remove. I do have a fear that i'll wake up and they haven't touched it.
