Lap done yesterday still confused

Hi,

I’m feeling really confused as yesterday I had my first laparoscopy done so after I came out from surgery I got taken back and monitored for half hour then the nurse discharged me with my meds etc she asked if I had any questions before I left I asked if they had found anything she said she didn’t know but she could read me my notes so on the notes all it said was no active endometriosis found? Does anyone know what that means? I was a little upset as I didn’t see the surgeon before being discharged I have called the hospital and they still can’t tell me what they have found

Thanks

Sophie xx

Ahh no, that's so awful :( If it's the NHS they're usually quite busy and often the surgeon doesn't have time to see each patient individually as they'll be doing other surgeries. It's really not great but don't panic, your notes will be sent to your GP and you can request a copy be sent to you. So if you call the secretary of your specialist or your GP you should be able to get hold of your noes and we'll help you work out what they mean.

Was your surgery done by an endo specialist? If so then they often have detailed notes, if it's a general gynae they often just summarise as it's a diagnostic lap. Sometimes a general gynae won't know specifically where to look or to look for things relating to endo, which an endo specialist may spot.

Perhaps other lovely ladies can help with what to ask / how to ask / push for info as mine was private so I had all the chats / discussions, but I do feel for you xx

Hi there

I just wanted to ask how you got on? Im just about to start the same journey. Ive just had a hysteroscopy and they left me waiting for ages before i got a reply and that was only because i called them! and then it was from a dif gyne team. It does seem that we go for all these tests and procedures to look for answers and they are just so rubbish following it up. I swallowed a bill for 200£ and saw a private gyne dr in the end. It was money well spent. He told me all the facts and had time to listen. Good luck and dont give up pestering them. Im waiting for my endo specialist appointment. Xx

Hiya,

Unfortunately I’m still non of the wiser it’s really frustrating isn’t it! I called the hospital back yesterday and all they have said is that I’ve been referred back to the GP so going to try book in with them next week. Yes it’s like all these tests and still no answer I’ve actually been looking today at going private and hopefully have someone actually listen to me for once 🤞I hope you get your answers it’s a long journey isn’t it and if you ever need a chat you can always drop me a message ☺️ Xxx

Hiya,

Thanks for checking in on me, I’ve been suffering my lower stitches are infected and been really poorly with them went to the doctors 3 times about them to be told it will heal on it’s own to then getting a second opinion the 3rd time to be told they are infected so on antibiotics. I have finally got my hospital letter but do not understand any of it part of it says that i have adhesions where it looks like I have had my apendix removed best thing Is I’ve not even had it removed 🤔🙄 anyway going to call doctor see if he can tell me what’s going on. How did you blood tests go? Do you have your specialist appointment through yet? Xxx

I had my first Lap on 6th June and I also had to ask what they'd actually found/done as I hadn't had anyone come round to explain to me before I was discharged. The nurse read my notes and said they'd removed endo from my uterus. I still have lots of questions but I plan to ask them at my 4 week follow up. You should have had a follow up appointment arranged? If you haven't I would phone the hospital and ask to book one. Hope this helps x

Hiya,

only thing they read on my notes was no active endometriosis found I’m not sure what that means yes make your you have all you questions answered on your follow up ☺️ It said on my discharge letter that I don’t need a follow up and I’ve been referred back to gp I’m so confused tried ringing both and still no answers xx

Make sure you push for answers! Get an appointment with your gp and make them listen to you. If you don't have endometriosis then it's obviously something else that needs sorting out. It's your health at the end of the day and that's so important xx

I was told nothing was found during mines and was devastated as thought I finally had answers and something could be done to help, asked to go back to gynae and was told no, so I've been thrown into the rubbish like yesterday's left overs, it's rubbish when you go through it all for nothing, I'm hoping in your case you have a better experience as I know something is wrong and now getting no help I got told to go on depo provera or suffer now I'm on it and not had any periods so no longer suffering only thing is can't be on depo long term so it's only a temporary solution :( I hope you get your answers because have none is rubbish!

That’s exactly how I feel I can’t believe they won’t send you back to gynae or at least look into what’s causing you so much pain it’s ridiculous I’d keep going back and pestering! I went for a second opinion and he’s sent me for a CT scan I had an appointment to see him the other day for results but I arrived and he wasn’t in so got someone else. The report wasn’t even back from the CT scan 🙄 she had a look and said it all looked fine blah blah blah and I asked her what a Perineal defect of the pouch of Douglas was as this was on my theatre notes and she turned around and said I don’t know what your talking about I don’t know what that is I just ended up in tears as I’ve had enough and nobody seems to be listening then cheek of it the nurse in the room said do you think it’s psychological!! I was fuming I said that my stomach being bloated everyday and the pain is not in my head!! 😡 I left the appointment devastated I have another appointment a week tomorrow to see the gynaecologist I saw who sent me for the CT scan so hopefully he will be more help! I hope you keep pushing to be seen as it’s awful they have just left you in pain I can’t believe how much we get fobbed off it’s unbelievable xx

I haven't pestered to see them I did for 8 years then got my lap, told the doc it makes me want to end my life and they neve even cared, just got told the jag or nothing and I've not had periods so had nothing to pester about now except the fact I have really bad fatigue but I would rather live like that than in pain
