So I had my lap (finally) yesterday and unfortunately did not get to see my gynaecologist after the surgery as he was in theatre all day. Understandably the nurse could not tell me what had been found, and had said my results would be gone over with my consultant in 7 days time at my follow up appointment in person.
However, she did say that she could tell me that they had taken biopsies during surgery. I also noticed that all my paperwork before the surgery said ‘diagnostic laparoscopy’, but after the surgery said ‘laparoscopy with ovarian cyst removal + biopsies’.
Am I right in thinking they have found something? Or could they have taken biopsies even if they didn’t find any endo? Has anyone else had any similar experiences?

Hi, I think if they take biopsies it's because they saw some tissue and removed it to test if it is the endometriosis disease. I'm not a professional so I could be wrong but I remember that my gynecologist once said to me that biopsies are only taken if a surgeon believes its necessary.
So I would assume from that statement that they wouldn't do a biopsy if they didn't think there was abnormal tissue, therfore they found endo during your lap and want to confirm?
Biopsies are carried out on tissue that is different than standard tissue to investigate it’s nature. That’s normal procedure with laps that find endometriosis partly as confirmation but also to double check that it’s not something else. Hope that reassures you.
