Hello,
I’m new to this site. I was diagnosed with Endo in 2015 and had my first laparoscopy.
6 days ago I had my second lap done. The surgeon found extensive endo, that was located everywhere - especially within the area of the rectum. Therefore, the surgeon decided not to remove any endo and conduct further surgery within 2-3 months, where he can go back in and remove it all (surgery will be approx 3.5 hours).
After my first lap I had dissolvable stitches and very minimal scarring. However, this time I had stitches and was rather alarmed when I removed the bandages - I don’t know how exactly to describe the wound, it was a weird red bump and looked disfigured. Today I had the stitches removed and it looks unpleasant. I questioned the nurse, but she didn’t give me much information, apart from keep it dry for 24 hours, then use salted water and put Vaseline on the wound everyday to minimise scarring. I asked her if my belly button would return to normal and she said she would doubt so. I left the nurses office not feeling reassured if this was “normal” and the wound is slightly weepy.
I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with wound appearances post op please?
Thanks
L x
