Second Day Of Post-Op

Greetings , I hope you're all well.

So I was admitted on Sunday and prepared Monday morning for the Operation, they promised to try a Lap scope but it was too difficult because of the previous scars from the other Operations so they went full open laparotomy. They managed to safely remove the other ovarian cyst but there was a torsion on the other, that Explained why I was in so much pain the days before the operation. They had to remove my ovary due to the damage, I'm just in alot of pain and still not released to go home. They could not stitch my wound to close it , one of the reasons they cannot send me home yet.

Thank you so much Afrohair...I'm hoping to get much better after this...It's been a very challenging one

Hope you feel better soon. Sounds severe. Had to look up what that was, no wonder it was painful. No endo?

At least you can get rest where you are.

My ovaries don’t show on ultrasound and consultant could only see one at the lap.

Pains so severely I still can't sit up properly n wake up from the bed properly😭😭 I've been through so much pain.

Apparently no Endo noted this time since last Op it was removed, just an ovarian cyst, torsion and confirmed blocked fallopian tubes

Have they given you morphine, strong stuff?

I think ‘just an’ is an understatement 🙂

I’ve hated being in hospital, not a good patient, but they are there to help. It’s difficult sometimes to ask them for stuff, don’t suffer unnecessarily

Good no endo. Are they allowing visitors?

Thank u so much Moon Maid. You've been around from the beginning...One thing that keeps me fighting. I'm on Morphine for the pain, I manage to fall asleep and be at ease from the pain and once I wake up its just all so different.

And I'll have to learn living with oral medication once the injection is stopped. They do not allow visitors still, it's so sad I think it's the time I need my family the most.

I just feel it would be better to be released for proper rest at home too

Sorry I hadn’t asked before your post, the last week has been worse. I’m sure my body was trying to go through a period even with Zoladex. Two days after possibly started it’s eased a bit. That and apparently discovered have UTI this afternoon.

It’s a pity about visitors, you’re probably on the phone lots though 🙂

They need to keep an eye on the wound though to avoid infection.

What’s the food like, or do you not feel like eating

But is it better now?? I'm so sorry...

At some point I'm grateful that the problem was solved sooner because I was referred by Surgical Drs...I do use the cell to read and distract my mind and the pain a bit, I also get check up calls and texts since the hospital telephone is a bit far from me.

I've been on soft foods like mash, butternut, dairy products and liquids but my appetite is so bad

My abdomen isn’t as bad now thankfully. Still there unfortunately, lesser degree. With a bit of luck the antibiotics will get rid of it entirely...

Your appetite will improve, not surprised you don’t want much at the moment.

It is good you’ve sorted it sooner, it’s just incredibly tough to go through. Doctors that believed what you were saying, still a rarity. Tempted to go A&E myself, my luck would be turned away.

I don’t know what’s involved with IVF, I’ve read it’s often successful. Is there a specialist nurse you can talk to? If you’d prefer not to talk about it please ignore.

Hey , how are u feeling today?

It wasn't a battle for them to believe me because all evidence was infront of them.

At first it was a bit tricky when my Xray came out normal, I was frustrating but I was lucky enough because the Dr of that Unit told them to book me a CT Scan and that's where everything came visible n the Ultrasound , those Ovarian Cysts were visible there too.

For now I think I must just focus on getting better and school...

Why they do things like X-ray when it’s not going to show is beyond me.

Are you feeling slightly better? You’re coming across that way.

Is the wound looking ok?

Started ok for me, then I went out and moving/driving hasn’t helped. I did tell the GP this morning it happens, well, reiterated. Morphine is kicking in 😊

I also couldn't understand why an x-ray but it does show Sometimes when something is wrong in the abdomen.

It feels a bit better today, they've just removed the bandages today to give it some time to breathe.

I haven't looked at it yet. I'm just a bit scared.

I'm so happy to hear that you are also getting there...I'm really hoping it all gets well with you

I couldn’t look until next day after lap. It was all so weird knowing knocked out, etc.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better.

How many others in the ward?must be reasonably quiet.

I'm scared to look as yet too...But can feel tightness from the stitches u.

We were four in the Cubicle , two have already gone home .

So it's myself and the other lady that found me here.

It's very quiet you know but feels unusual

Pretty close to private, not bad going 😀

I hated looking even though tiny incisions.

The last time I stayed in hospital (excluding lap), I had my own room, kicked off ward after first night to the dungeon (isolation) due to severe infection 🤣

Hey hope you’re doing a bit better now. I had one of my ovaries removed too. If you need a chat, feel free to send me a message xx

Hey cupcake.

Thank you for the text, my worries now are on the fact that I really really have to consider IVF , I was told a bit about the dangers of trying to fall pregnant normally with blocked fallopian tubes and one ovary ..

I'm concerned and stressed out

Write all your questions down and ask the hospital before you leave, it should help settle your mind a little. But I guess it’s a bit unknown isn’t it.

Have they said how long you need to try for, before going for IVF?
