3 weeks for my first laparoscopy...

Hello all!

Hope you are really well.

I was told in October 2018 that I had symptoms of Endometriosis. I am having my first laparoscopy to check Endo in different organs and to remove a cyst in my right ovary in 3 weeks.

A part from being really stressed and worried, I feel completely lost and unprepared.

I am going to see my Doctor on Wednesday and I do not even know what to ask...

Could you please spare a few tips for the pre and post surgery? Any questions that I should ask my doctor?

Thank you all xx

Monica

Hi Monica, speaking from experience of having both laparoscopy & laparotomy my pre surgery prep I have always tried to think what I would need and get things in before my surgery as I couldn’t drive for a few weeks afterwards. I bought a small cushion found that helpful when going in car or from sitting to standing to support abdomen/wound. I got my hubby to help with my white stockings as bending at first is an issue but when feeling better I used a plastic bag to help slide them on by cutting a hole in bottom of the bag putting it over my foot and lower leg & using it like a sleeve to pull stocking up over the bag, then remove bag from top it’s so much easier than struggling as they are tight.

3 of my life savers after surgery have been the microwave heat packs, a V pillow for support in bed or just sitting and peppermint tea (for trapped gas)👍 Giving me some relief.

Good luck with your surgery & recovery ☺️

Take a good lip balm with you too, your mouth will be pretty dry after not drinking for so long x

I am having mine on Thursday! I am so anxious it’s been playing on my mind and weighing me down for weeks!!!! I can let you know how I go if you want to PM me. I have got: peppermint tea, de-gas tablets, hydrolight, Panadol, heatpack for post surgery

No problem! I sent you a PM so send me any questions or if you want to vent I am here. Honestly I made so much fuss over nothing...it was super easy. I went in at 8:15 ish and was in recovery awake and eating a lemonade ice block by 9:30am! No pain relief since about 11am yesterday...I’m up and walking, moving and feeling fine. A bit stiff and sore and had a bit of shoulder discomfort from gas and air but nothing a heatpack isn’t helping with. I have very little bloating. It’s a bit hard to sit upright so just lounging around...actually not sure what to do with myself...I am not groggy or anything and used to being so busy I don’t know how to relax and chill hahaha
