2nd Laparoscopy

Hi ladies,

I’ve had my 2nd laparoscopy now. This time, the healing process is much better, not a single bruise and no swelling, stitches look very neat, however I had more endo there than last time. The gasses are more painful this time in my shoulders however I am still up and moving as I should do at this stage.

By any chance has anyone flew after a laparoscopy? Due to fly in 3 weeks, hoping I’ll be ok!

Abs x

You should be okay to fly! As long as you feel recovered enough :) take activated charcoal tablets and gas x for the gas pain! It helped me so much with my second lap. I recommend digest force off amazon (activated charcoal + ginger). No joke, I had no shoulder or chest pain this time. It worked amazing!

I flew 2 weeks after mine. It was pretty uncomfortable and exhausting as I felt every bump and vibration of the plane through my insides! But only a shortish flight of just over an hour between England and Ireland. I requested special assistance on my booking as couldn't manage luggage (was traveling alone) they put me in a wheelchair through the airport and you get to jump the security queue and didn't leave me till I was met by my friend at the other end. I'd definitely try and add that to your booking if you can.

This is what worries me, my flight is 4 hours long, I am travelling to Greece. I am going back to work today, I am now back to my normal routine. X

I had my first lap done in greece in 2014. Got it done on Tuesday and Saturday I was in a flight back to London.. it wasn't the most comfortable thing lol but it was ok. I regularly got up to walk a bit and also I would go wee even if I don't feel like it cause it took me long to get my pants and all down lol I remember going loo at home and I didn't know that it would be painful to move quick..

Did you have to get consent off a GP to fly x

To be honest I had no idea back then. My surgeon though had told me that by the time I fly I'd be okay to do so. Now that I think of it flying back five days post op was not the best. Also airline didn't know because I remember at some point reading that they want notes from dr to let you in.

See by the time I fly I will be 4 weeks post op. I spoke to someone off my airline yesterday, they said if I’m up doing normal things then I’ll be okay but just to get the go ahead off my gp x

Did anyone see a GP or anything? I’ve been told to go and see if I’m fit to fly x
