Laparoscopy on period

Hi all,

I have been offered a date for laparoscopic excision but I will be on day 2 of my period which is incredibly heavy. They said it didn’t matter but have you got any tips? Should I move the date? Delay my period somehow?

What would you do or what have you done?

I was on mine but I had emergency lap in the end due to pain. I would keep the date you have rather than delaying. You bleed a lot after the surgery anyway. Just tell them again when you go in and I would recommend wearing a large pad or some incontinence pants (that's what they gave me) I woke up with no pants on and just laying on a really big pad as they had to remove some stuff vaginally. Looking back being on wasn't the worst part of it just an inconvenience. The nurses were really good at helping me with pads and stuff after and also sorting me out beforehand. I wouldn’t be delaying your laparoscopy just because you’re on your period, it’s dosent make a difference to the surgeon and the team if you are, they are still able to do what they need to do. God only knows how long you’d be waiting if you cancelled every time you have a period. Just make them aware when you go in, but it’s definitely not a problem x

I had mine on my period, didnt know i was going to be on it as mine never used to b regular but i came on day before lap. I rang hosp and asked if they were ok with it and the nurse laughed at me and said they have seen a period before .

So just go and warn them in the room as there getting u ready. Obv do not wear tampax use towels and use towels after to as u prob wont want things up there for a while.
