Hi, I got diagnosed with moderate endometriosis 6 months ago after having my first lap in which the gynaecologist said he "removed it all". I also had the Mirena coil inserted during the surgery.
Couple weeks after the surgery I started getting really heavy watery discharge that has a foul smell. This only happens for a few days during my menstral cycle (usually during "ovulation time"). This happens every month.
After 3 months I started getting a tender pelvis and pain during sex, both of which I've never had before. It's not too tender, but it definitely feels sore when I press down in the centre and towards my left side (which happens to be where most of the endometriosis was). I went to a sexual health clinic to get it checked out and they screened me for all sti's which came back clear. They were concerned I was showing signs of PID but since the screening came back clear they didn't prescribe me any treatment.
At my gynaecologist appointment I mentioned all this and he ordered an ultrasound which came back I have a 4cm hemorrhagic cyst (probably corpus luteum) on my left ovary, he told me this was probably the source of all my discomfort. The transvaginal scan also was quite sore to have which I'd not experienced before.
During the last two months along with the symptoms mentioned above I've been running a fever during my period. My periods still happen with the coil but are much lighter. I also find the tenderness getting worse during my period too. I've mentioned all this to my GP and they're blaming it all on my cyst/endometriosis.
I'm concerned that now I've been diagnosed with endometriosis that any pelvic discomfort is automatically blamed on that without further investigation. I'm worried I might have gotten a case of PID from the surgery/coil insertion and it's not being treated. I'm also very concerned that if this is the case...well my fertility prospects aren't great as it is cus of the endo and I don't want something further unnecessarily adding to this complication.
Any advice? I've heard the antibiotics for PID are pretty intense and should not be taken "just in case" but I'm not sure where to go from here. The doctor's don't seem to think there's an issue.
Can a cyst really cause all this?
