Lighter periods after lap for endometriosis?

Hi, I am almost six months post lap for severe endometriosis.

My periods are now lighter and shorter duration.

Has this happened to anyone else after surgery?

Thanks

I’m only on my second period after my lap but my period has gone from purely clots to some clots plus more fresh blood. It’s probably more like a normal period hun and hopefully a sign that they have done a good job with your implants x

Thanks so much . I hope so. I suppose I got so used to severe bleeding, I thought it was normal😅

I’m 3 cycles post-lap, same and FingersX83, mine are less clotty, now red not brown/oxidised, lighter and massively less painful- like hardly any cramping before, during or after (after was the worst for me before the lap). I temp track so I know that I ovulate, and everything seems to be working down there.

Hi . It's a relief to know this seems normal. . I was worried my ovaries weren't working, but everything is regular and ovulation urine test positive each month.

Temp tracking gives me peace of mind that things are working normally. Read into it- it‘a easy to do and my thermometer was just a £5 cheapie on Amazon.

Hi . .I think I'll get the thermometer. .

I got my day 3 hormones checked and they are normal. . My "friend" tells me every symptom I have is a sign of menopause, though my Gp said I'm not near menopause.

So I think it is my "friend" constantly in my ear making me worry more.

The period repair manual by Laura Briden is a good read. There’s a section for everything, including endometriosis and the menopause. Also, the fifth vital sign is a book that details why the menstrual cycle is a critical indicator of female health, as important to consider as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and temperature. There are several aspects of your cycle that you can easily monitor yourself which will give you some clues about what’s up with your biochemistry.

Thank you. . Great help . I ordered the book on Amazon last night. . Really appreciate the advice.

You’re welcome! I’m amazed at how the consultants just try to mask our symptoms with tablets instead of taking a step back and considering what’s going on. Good luck with your health journey, message anytime!

Hiya! How are feeling? Has the book shed any light on what you’ve been experiencing??

Hi. Thanks so much for thinking of me. . I got the book and also the thermometer . . I found both really helpful. . My periods are still lighter, but everything seems to happen on time and basal temperatures seem to indicate ovulation. .

I loved the book. . My fiancee keeps asking why I'm checking my temperature every morning and says I'm creating my own little science experiment!😂😂

No worries chicken, I’ve been out flat with a cold and was filtering through old notifications on here, and thought I’d say hello. I’m glad your science experiment is giving you peace of mind. I enjoy collecting all my data. It’s reassuring to have some evidence that your body is doing everything it’s supposed to, especially when the NHS consultants are just too busy to follow up regularly.

I’m hoping and praying that my first after my lap three weeks ago is a lot lighter and less painful.

Your post gives me such hope as mine were extremely heavy without medication to try control it and at my worse I bled for 26 days which was utterly miserable.

I hope yours continues to be ‘normal’

X

Hi. . Yes, . Though for the first 4 months after surgery mine were heavy and excruciatingly painful. . Now they are lighter and no pain. . 😀😀 so hope it's all normal! I got so used to the pain, I worry now there's no pain😆

Thanks so much for replying!

I ca understand why you worry now there is no pain as I’d be the same!!

As yet mine has yet to arrive so I’m worrying about that lol!!! You’d think I’d be over the moon after the last one I was bleeding for 26 days!!!

I guess it’s just hard when you know how bad it’s been and you are always just expecting the worst!

I hope you continue on pain free and light!! 😄
