I have been informed that I have to have a laparoscopy as my consultant has told me that due to all my symptoms he suspects I have endo. I also have PCOS. I went for my appointment 3 weeks ago to be told I would have to have this procedure, I was explained all about the procedure and asked about my general health. Then I haven’t really had anything since, no letter or phone call etc. I wasn’t told a wait time or anything; I was just wondering what people’s experiences with waiting for this procedure is? I rang today to ask if there was anything and I’ll got told was that I’m on the list but I have no date yet. It’s making me feel extremely anxious being in limbo and obviously the pain hasn’t got any better so I’m willing to have the procedure as soon as possible so I can get on with my life (fingers crossed).

Surgery waiting
I was diagnosed with endo September 2018 and wanted to stay away from surgery and was put on emergency scans every 3months, I went in for my pre op assessment in January as my endo has spread to my ovaries and giving me more pain and I'm also bleeding into them. I am still waiting for my surgery date, I was told the pre op assessment only last up to 6 weeks, so I would be given a surgery date within that time scale. But it's March now and still no date. I called to speak to the nurse who did my forms and she said the anthesatic needs to see me before it can be done off.As I get a reaction to anthesatic. But they say I can be waiting up to 6montha which is the maximum time you can wait in the nhs surgery lost or else it's a breach. if patients wait pass 6months.
Thank you! What happened at your pre-op appointment? I’m trying to work out if that’s what my consultant done last time I saw him or wether it was just a consultation to figure out what to do next?
They gave me a date in December and said They will make the decision whether to operate or not depending on if the cyst was still growing.. but it had been growing I only had the one at first behind my uterus which was very painful as I couldn't walk, then two more grew in my ovaries and that's when my endo specialist referred me for surgery.
In January I got a letter stating I was going to meet my consultant..I went in and they said it was my pre op assessment. I had my bloods done, height and weight recorded, a few swabs taken, ECG,then we went through the admission forms on the computer which the nurse filled out, history, medication I was taking, all the general stuff after two hours of all that she told me I will get my surgery date but could be waiting up to 6weeks.
So i called last week because it has been more than 6 weeks, she said my referral for surgery has not been signed off yet as the anthaestist needs to check the referral and if they need be they will call me in for more assessment. but I'm starting to get he agonising pain again and only thing keeping me positive is a hot water bottle.
What a pain! I’m hoping my last thing with my consultant was a pre op then and on that case I’ll keep phoning to ask because I should hear something at least within the 6 weeks! Thank you for your help!
