First let me reassure you that you won’t get any nasty comments on here, this forum is a lovely group 😊
Also my coil took around a year to settle down and then for about 3 years I didn’t have any bleeding at all, my periods had stopped and I think that is one of the more desirable side effects.
My coil has been in for nearly 5 years now and my periods are creeping back in and I’m choosing to have it removed and not to be replaced as I feel it has played havoc with my metal health. However if you are feeling okay in yourself and it’s just that your period has stopped that sounds normal to me xxxx
This is completely normal, when I had mine fitted, I never had any periods again, although I’m a lot older than you and was in my 40’s. I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread. X
As Catness as already said - no nasty comments on here! It's a lovely group and we are all here to help and support each other.
My periods stopped after about 4 - 5 months with the Merina, and the pain began decreasing from the first one, to no pain at all by the 4th. Mind you, I was a lot older than you: early 50s, always high oestrogen, and lots of pain after 50 when I was made to come off the pill, which had always been my only relief. The pill was almost all that was offered to my generation - 2 laps in my 40s-ish, did nothing to help the pain.
Hopefully as the periods wane, so will the pain. Plus - and others may be able to comment on this - my understanding is that you periods, and fertility, will come back when you have it removed. But do remember to check it is till there, if you are using it for contraception, as they can come out - tho' I think it's rare.
Hope this helps,
Take care,
Gritty
I think the coil is a bit of a marmite situation when it comes to endometriosis. Some women find it the best thing since sliced bread, and have loads of success on it, others find it terrible. Unfortunately after 9 months I still had near constant cramps and bleeding so in the end had it taken out as medication didn't work to stop the bleeding either. Often it can mess around with your periods a bit, see your gp if you're worried about it xx
Thank you all for the lovely comments, you have all put my mind too ease.. my mental health was abit crazy at first but it started too settle. Thanks again for all the kind comments x
