First period after surgery !!

Hi. I finally had my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy at the end of November 2018 after being fobbed off for ages by my local surgery. Thankfully my work pay for healthcare and it’s was a pretty quick turn around from consultants meeting to actual surgery. I had moderate endometriosis and my bowel was fused to my womb!! Painful!! Anyway I was advised to carry on with my pill for 3 packs so 63 days after the surgery to help me internally heal!! Well I’m now experiencing my first period and it’s horrendous. I’m having to change every couple Of hours due to how much I’m bleeding. The pain in the stomach and back is worse than ever. I’ve called the docs who I’m Still waiting for a call back. Is this normal Ladies? Me and my husband are quite worried! Thank for any comments or feedback

I’m really sorry this is happening to you. I can’t say I have experienced it as I’m 6 wk post lap and a mirena was put in which stopped my periods. (Before and after). I have however read quite afew posts saying that the first couple of periods after lap are horrendous. My periods used to be horrific, but I found tranexamic acid helped to stem the flow abit. Hope you’re feeling better soon xxx

Sorry also meant to say that if you’re worried definitely keep on at the dr-ring them back or your surgeons secretary, you know your body and if it’s not right sometimes you have to just persevere!

Thank you yeah I’ve read a few now which put my mind at rest. Got to the docs to find out I also had a serious kidney infection that was masked by the endo pain lol!! Spent the last 3 days in hospital after posting this!

Oh no!!! Well I really hope you are feeling better soon!!! I often worry about how much pain we put down to ‘just endo’, and think to what point do we let it get to before A&E...

I know!! And even though I’m in here with an infection not replated I’m still obviously having my endo pain and the staff here literally don’t understand the pain levels! Scary how little people know about it lol

Hi. I had laparoscopy and hysteroscopy 4 days ago. I am getting better and better but I am still having a bit of pain on my lower stomach. Anyways, I was told that the first period after laparoscopy or hysteroscopy will be heavier than usual period. So I hope your next period will get back to normal!!
