Mirena insertion with local anaesthetic

Hi everybody, first post but been lurking for a while. Bit of background, not actually been diagnosed but cant think what else would explain my symptoms. Was due to go for a diagnostic laparascopy last november but due to getting pregnant had to postpone and now unsure when I will be able to do this due to the demands of having 3 young children (will probably be in 2020) realistically but could have it sooner if I decide its needed. Symptoms are painful periods, painful sex and vaginal examinations, bloating and strange tugging or sharp pains and sciatica which may or may not be related.

So down to the bones of the issue: I am due to have a mirena fitted in january at the sexual health clinic using local anaesthetic. Before my last pregnancy I tried to have a coil fitted at the drs. Apparently all she did was put the clamps on my cervix. This was exruciatingly painful and she tried to put the clamps on twice before saying she couldnt continue due to me crying out in pain and not being to stay still on the bed. Can anyone reasure me that i'll be able to cope with getting the procedure done? Anybody know if they need to clamp the cervix in place to put the anaesthetic injection in. Is it possible to have it done under a general if this is not possible. But if thats going to be the case then I might aswell just book myself back in for the laparoscopy...

TIA :) any coil experiences welcome too
