I had my laparoscopy about 4/5 months ago and the last few days I’ve noticed one of my scars is getting rather itchy. 2 of them tend to be a little itchy from time to time but this has turned up a notch. I forget and give it a good scratch and then it hurts.
The stitches where done too tightly where this particular scar is and when the nurse took my stitches out, it opened up a little because the wound didn’t heel properly so the scar is slightly bigger than to be expected.
I try and avoid anything pressed against it like pants or trousers. I know bio oil is good for scars but would this help reduce the itching?
If anyone has advice that would be great.
Thank you.

Hi there what u r doing is just fine . But u still feel itchy just go to ur gp. She might give u some cortisone cream which might help with d itch . But it does take almost a year depending on body to body for complete healing.
Hi I find hemp from the body shop works wonders for itchy and dry skin. It doesn’t smell nice but it works. Small tube is £5. Hope you feel better soon x
Vitamin E oil is the best for reducing scars and if you give it a little massage, rub around every time you put it on it will help break down the scar tissue. I had 3 laprascopic surgeries and a c-section and the c-section is the worst! Its in that spot too where itching it in public looks like I have crabs lol - I used to catch myself doing it while talking to people all the time! Now years down the track it is hardly itchy & lap scars are hard to find.
Scar tissue can't produce the natural oils that your skin normally produces, so it could just be dry skin. Maybe try giving that area an extra bit of love with the moisturiser (maybe the hemp somebody suggested!) and see if that helps. That helped me
