At my latest doctors appointment where I went to discuss how much pain I am in at times which feels like labour it was suggested that after my laparoscopy I go onto HRT to put me into an early menopause and she also said I should think about having the coil put in.
Can you give me some advice on what HRT does to the body, what did it do for you? How does it make you feel? Does it mean you won’t go through the menopause later on in life? (I am 37), does it mean you can never ever get pregnant?
My main issues are pain along with flooding & clots, irregular periods which can last up to 2 weeks, iron levels low & general feeling of not being well.

I’m not sure what HRT alone would do but many people with endo have a treatment called Zoladex (I believe there are others ones but don’t know the names) it’s a monthly injection which stops your ovaries working which puts you into a menopausal state. They recommend taking HRT if you are on it a while, I believe primarily to protect you from osteoporosis. It’s temporary, if you stop the injections your periods do return. The idea is if you’re not having periods the endo will not grow. It worked for me, there were some side effects I was quite tired. When I stopped the injections the endo came back. I currently have the mirena coil (inserted at a laparoscopy) and it’s worked brilliantly for me. No periods and after it’s settled no pain. I know it doesn’t suit everyone though. whilst you have a coil though you can’t try to get pregnant so would have to have it removed if you were trying. I expect to have a normal menopause even though I’ve already had two ‘induced’ ones already!! Best wishes x
