Have you had success, reduction or no symptoms post lap?

Hello everyone,

I've got my first lap in 4 weeks time after trying different hormonal medication for months on end that hasn't worked. I've read quite a few posts of people having had their lap but still having experienced symptoms after recovery or symptoms returning.

I'm really looking for some success stories where the laparoscopy has helped you and made your symptoms reduce or go.

I'm feeling quite anxious leading up to it and want to try to be optimistic it will help me (I've tried everything else going it seems so this feels like my last hope). Obviously everyone is different but It would be so nice to hear of positive outcomes :)

Thank you xx

Hey, It's really helped me so far.

Have a read of my recent post - click on me, and then posts or search for the below:

"All this effort does pay off - my story - hope it helps !"

:)

Hi

I have had a few laps some just to have a look or lasered the endo out which unfortunetly did not work for me. I had a lap about 5/6 weeks ago where it was excised out and so far have had no pain and no symptons and felt the best since my diagnosis 15 years ago!!! Obviously there is still a chance it can come back but i am at the best point of my life with endometriosis and hopefully it will not come back with the level of pain i had before.

It really depends where the endo is and what they are doing but would strongly advise having it excised out not just lasered as that did not work for me and was a complete waste of everyones time!! Don't be dis heartened about the lack of replies there are a lot of positive stories out there but do be aware that it does all depend on each person what level of endo you have etc. Just don't give up if it does'nt work as doctors are learning new things for endo all the time and it is managed so much better then even 5 years ago!!

I just enjoy every pain free and fatigue free day now but am aware that it is likely to come back but am much more aware of symtons and signs. I wish you good luck with your lap hope it goes well and resolves some of the issues or at least relieves your pain xx the best recovery is to try and be positive and looking after yourself x

Hi Jess,

Thank you for replying to me. Im sorry to hear your previous laps havent worked for you but it sounds like your more recent experience has been so much more positive.

I am having my pre-op tomorrow so will encourage the excised out rather than the lazer. I think I have definitely felt a bit concerned about the lack of replies and positive stories!

Thank you for your message and well wishes, I am looking forward to hopefully some kind of reduction in my symptoms x

Hi only just saw this.

My endo was severe and all over pelvis and excision worked for me too. Had one lap in 2016 which was lasered, symptoms ok but came back quite quickly. Mine is obvious when it’s back due to bowel symptoms and stabbing period pain-normal period cramps are completely different! Last lap July this year, excised with specialist and symptoms gone. Normal periods and no bowel symptoms and IBS that I had for YEARS has gone, so what I thought was IBS was actually endo in bowel. Would echo other poster and recommend excision with a BSGE specialist if possible. This will depend how severe yours is. Hope this helps cxx

Hello,

Ah thank you so much for your reply. That's so great to hear that after your 2nd lap you've been able to maintain the progress. I've got my 1st lap in 3 weeks times and hearing that positively story has really helped. Thank you :) x
