BSGE pre op assessments.

Hello ladies, I was wondering those of you who under the bsge clinics, how long did you wait for a pre op assessment to come through? I wasn't seen too long ago maybe 3 weeks ago and I'm going in for another lap but just wanting to know how long the wait can be?

Do you have a surgery date yet? I was always given my pre op appts together with the surgery dates. I waited 16 weeks for my first surgery with them (and had the pre op a couple of weeks before) and then it will have been 18 weeks for the second surgery and I had my pre op for that last week. Both times I waited 6/7 weeks after the appointment to get the surgery date.

It is worth chasing the hospital if you are worried.

No surgery date yet all he said was it shouldn't be too long as I waited over 36 weeks just to be seen by them.

I went private so I only waited 3 weeks for a consultation and In another 4 weeks I will be in for surgery. Not sure how long it will be on the NHS but hopefully you hear soon x

Hi. I waited 11 months for my pre op to come through. I had the pre op and operation date together. They were only week apart. xx

11months! I'm too impatient to wait that long lol

Haha I was impatient aswell but I had no choice. He said I could go private but it wouldn't be with a specialist so would probably end up going back to him. 11months is a long time though! I don't know if that's normal with the NHS. xx

Doesn't seem normal for the NHS, then again I don't know. I've had several ops in the past and never waited too long, shortest I waited was last year, saw a doctor who booked me in for a op told me it's a 5-6 month wait, 2 weeks later I got a pre op appointment less than 12 hours later had a phone call telling me to come in the next day for the op. Don't think I'll ever that lucky again.
