Hi TKWlove that’s like me, I am waiting too and it’s been on my mind ever since I got told about it. Hopefully we will all have answers this year about what’s going on. I also have adenomyosis so when I have symptoms I can’t work out if it’s Endo or Aden. Intercourse is so painful for me too, like a sharp pain /( x

Hi, I’m sorry I can’t be any help for what to expect. I’m kind of in the same place, had an MRI recently (waiting for results) and was told when the results are back I’d be booked for a laparoscopy.

Just wanted to say that I hope everything goes well and you find some answers and relief.

Take care of yourself x

Hey, I had my first one a couple of weeks and it’s honestly not as bad as it seems. You will meet with your surgeon and anaesthetist and ask questions etc. Then the nurse will take you to theatre where you get on the bed and then you’re wheeled into the room where they put you to sleep.

It took me less than 10 seconds to fall asleep and it feels weird as the light went blurry and then I woke up in recovery 3 hours later. They gave me very strong painkillers as I felt on cloud nine haha. But a few days later I felt awful and couldn’t move.

The gas pain is a bitch ngl but heat can help a bit and people recommended peppermint tea as well. My stitches still hurt now like I had to run for a bus today and my stitches really hurt and split slightly.

Any questions you can always message me xx

Hello ladies,

I was also in the same position as you and doctors turned me away for two years until I had such horrific pain while travelling that I had to fly home and only then did a consultant agree to do a Laparoscopy!! So well done for getting to the stage of surgery.

My diagnosis was very minor Endometriosis and my symptoms returned within 4 months. I was convinced they missed some and had multiple appointments where I was told it’s all my head and was sent away.

A recent MRI has shown multiple cysts, fibroids and adhesions! They were all wrong! Finally I’m being referred to an Endo specialist.

My point is no matter what you’re results are or what you’re told, if your instinct tells you that they’re not taking you seriously and there’s something they haven’t picked up yet, don’t give up! Eventually a consultant will listen and they will find a way to help you 🙂 and even if they don’t find the cause of the problems, they’ll find a way to manage the symptoms 🙂

They can always miss stuff and what one doctors says doesn’t mean the next one would agree and you’re never alone in this.

If you have any questions then fire away, I’m only 24 but I’ve spent the last 4 years going back and forth the doctors haha! Good luck xx

I had a laparoscopy last month and I can’t tell you how nervous I was beforehand. I felt fine one minute and then terrified the next. I packed my bag early on so it was one less thing to worry about. I had never been in for surgery before so I had no idea what to expect. I think what was the worst part for me was not knowing what they were doing. I knew they were doing lap and dye but that’s all I knew and he unknown scared me.

To be honest, I was absolutely pooping myself about the anaesthetic and how it would affect me waking up etc... it honestly was not anywhere near as bad as I had imagine in my head. You’ll 99.9% get shoulder pains after surgery as they fill your tummy with gas. Peppermints helped a little and walking about/standing and rocking. You’ll need to do a wee after surgery. I drank a jug of water before I even attempted and I had no issues at all with emptying my bladder. I was signed off for 2 weeks and I needed it. I think I could have done with 3 weeks to be honest. I was hardly sleeping at night because I could not get comfortable. I purchased a cuggle pillow/pregnancy pillow and this helped a lot!

Your surgeon/consultant should come round and see you after surgery to discuss how your surgery went. When I woke up in recovery, I was confused as I felt amazing. For a second I felt as though I hadn’t had surgery and then I had a look and found 3 dressings. I asked the nurse if everything went ok and she was reassuring and said they will speak to me later. The waiting around was weird though because I had no idea what had just happened to me. I gradually started to feel sore but I honestly thought it would hurt a million times worse than it did.

My belly button still hurts but the other 2 are fine.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I feel like I’ve babbled on about me but I just wanted to share my experience with you as I was nervous and had no idea what to expect.

If I don’t hear from you again, I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery!
