I have had my procedure and I am in a lot of discomfort and fragile but okay, and most importantly am still seizure free!
I went into theatre at about 2:45pm and came out at 4:30pm. They found endometriosis on my left side which is where I would get the stabbing and aching symptom, he successfully removed that and I have been fitted with a marina coil. My ovaries and fallopian tubes are fine! Going into anaesthetic was so peaceful, the nurse held my hand because I was tearful and I was speaking about my job to the anethesist, next thing I know I was coming round from surgery in the theatre.
Now, pain afterwards - I coughed a lot when I woke up and still am a bit now, though that was due to the tube down my throat. Shoulder pain has been the worst, like stabbing in the front and back of my Shoulder, aching arms and over my chest. My stomach is sensitive when I cough and I'm walking slow, I'd say the worst symptom is my shoulders. I have took wind tablets and some more painkillers, she said the shoulder pain was due to the anaesthetic and wind moving around. Advice - have someone rub your shoulders and do not panic with the pain! Deep breaths and it will subside. Keep up with pain meds which is what I'll be doing, and it will be fine. I have also lightly bled afterwards, so be sure to prepare for that afterwards. I feel battered and very fragile but it went as smoothly as it could, I also had a coil fitted so it hurt having my first wee. Saying goodbye and I love you to my fiance before going in was the most upsetting for me.
If I can get through this anyone can, thank you guys for all of the love and kind words and support, it helped me through!

So glad that all went well!! At least you have a diagnosis now and the coil should help. Perhaps do some feedback on how you get on with the coil in a few months time??
Thank you, I'll be sure to do that. Feel so fragile and uncomfortable at the minute, be glad when it starts to subside. Just want to go I told you so to all the doctors that made me to be crazy and imagining it all xx
They do, most of them make you feel like you're going crazy, my doctor said it was normal and blamed it on hormones and actually said she wouldn't advise referring me, but I just said it's my body, I know it's not normal and want this referral. Everyone knows there body and you just have to trust your gut instinct.

Thank you I can imagine you are feeling a mix of emotions right now having had the diagnosis - probably including a bit of relief! So glad they have been successful in finding it. Good to hear that things in there are looking good and that they managed to remove most of it from your left side xx
To be honest most of what I feel is relief because I think I came to terms with it being endometriosis beforehand, because my consultant said it sounded like classic endometriosis. He said he managed to remove it and the most important thing to me is that my reproductive organs are fine, and I'm lucky to see it looks like they are. I'm glad I pushed as hard as I did, I'm not usually that type of person but if I didn't, I could of been left years with it affecting my fertility. I'll always say to anyone trust your gut insincts. Definitely! I know I'll be feeling a wave of relief if it gets picked up on my lap.. I'm fully expecting it to be there and I was ready for a fight on my hands with the Gynacologist this morning to refer for a lap.. luckily the gloves didn't need to go on and she agreed and empathised with the symptoms!
We are having issues at the age of 26 with fertility so your 100% doing the right thing pushing treatment and investigations to minimise any future worry or stress in that department. Well done hun you should be very proud of yourself honestly xxx

It was so nice reading this as I am due mine on 1st March and my main worry (other than them not finding anything) has been being put to sleep so to know that you thought it was peaceful and the nurse you had was really good has helped my nerves a bit, I hope I get a nurse like that!
Wishing you all the luck in the world even though I'm sure you won't need it! Honestly once they put the needle in your arm after what feels like a few seconds you'll start to feel sleepy and a bit dizzy kind of like when you've been drinking a bit too much, then they'll put the mask on and I don't remember anything after that. If they're anything like mine they're so kind and keep your talking which really helps, and they even managed to make me giggle which was lovely. And then before you know it you'll be waking up and it feels like you've had a lovely sleep for a few minutes. Thank you, good luck with yours! Keep me updated xx
I am terrified of needles but I think if i just close my eyes like when get my blood tests I will manage that haha thank you so much for telling me this though I honestly feel so much more relaxed about it now knowing how to expect to feel 😊 thanks! Will do, same for you xx
The needle goes in the top of your hand and it's literally like the tiniest scratch, I just looked at the ceiling while he did it and then the nurses and anethesist started talking to me and that was that, not as uncomfortable as a blood test you'll be happy to know! I was exactly the same! Sounds silly but try not to worry, you will have all the support and anaesthetic is so safe now a days. Going to sleep and waking up is the most peaceful part, it's just the recovery which is causing me the most discomfort, but just remember to keep topped up with painkillers and get some wind tablets and peppermint tea, because it will help move the trapped wind around your body, especially if it's in your shoulders. Do some deep breathing and just keep telling yourself you'll be just fine. Best of luck lovely xx
I would say about 1 hour 45 minutes, I went in at 2:45 and came around at half 4, they say 1-2 hours, depends if they find endometriosis and have to get rid of it is what they told me, but you'll feel like you've been to sleep a few minutes honestly xx
Hi, I'm so glad your laparoscopy went well. I had my first laparoscopy a week ago today and thought I'd just say that you will feel so much better in a few days! I was sofa-bound from last Thursday until Sunday, when I ventured to our local coffee shop (very, very, very slowly and holding tightly to my partners' arm!). I couldn't sit up in bed without rolling onto my side and pushing myself up. I now have a full range of motion and can walk at normal speed (and do basically everything I want/need to around the house except heavy lifitng), but even a 45min trip to the local shop and back leaves me exhausted! I'm off painkillers now and feeling so much better, and the change from day to day has been really encouraging I hope you have a smooth recovery and do let us all know if you have any questions - like you I've found the support here invaluable X
Hi, I'm very glad to hear you're feeling better, will be glad when that time comes around for me, in so much discomfort at the minute in my upper abdomen and shoulders, keep having peaks of pain and it just brings me to tears, have to just breathe through it at the minute. I've been walking round a tiny bit to try and relieve some of the trapped gas and took some wind tablets and peppermint tea, it's just so uncomfortable😔. But I'm 110% glad I have had it done and have no regrets at all. Well done you on your recovery! Glad to hear you're doing so well xx
