Post op

It’s been 10 days since extensive excision surgery on my rectum and rectovaginal area due to stage 3 endo. In the past 4 days Iv been experiencing nasty ibs symptoms. Cramps to the point of collapsing over with pain with diarrhoea. Does anyone know if this is to be expected?

Hi Holleymuzz I thought I would reply as we had our laps at a similar time - I’ll be 2 weeks post op tomorrow. How are you feeling now? Have the symptoms got any better? This was my first lap and I’ve been surprised at how crappy I felt! I expected to be back to normal by now! x

Hi. No it’s not got better. I’m experiencing a flair at the moment, started a new bleed which is odd because the pill stopped my periods, I already had my post op bleed which I don’t count as period. Did you have much work done?

This is my second lap due to endo but was in surgery for over 3 hours x

Can I ask what a flair is? Have you been able to return to work? I’m glad you mentioned a post op bleed as I wasn’t told to expect any bleeding but read online that it is quite normal. I have had spotting since and about 5 days of heavy bleeding. Would have been nice to have a heads up haha. I’m not sure what counts as a lot of work but I had two cystectomies and excision/burning of some endo and it took just over an hour and a half. 3 hours sounds a long time - was that expected? x

A flair is like when your endometriosis pain is high and your bloating and very painful, I have pain in legs lower back and itch all over. No completely not expected! They put me first on list because they expected it to be over quickly. If only they had listened to me eh! X
