Endo Diet

Hello all,

I just wanted to give an update on my current endo state. I had a Laparoscopy back in March and 2 endo cysts in both ovaries were removed (excision). Also endo adhesion to the bladder and womb (very small) were removed. I started on the POP (Cerazette) which unfortunately caused me to bleed heavily and constantly, so this has not helped with managing the endo re-growth!

I've had a post-Laparoscopy scan a few weeks ago and the endo is still there, although smaller. The pains are still there too. So, I've decided to take the lead and go on a very strict Endo Diet. I was already avoiding dairy, wheat/gluten, caffeine and alcohol. But now I also want to eliminate ALL SUGAR (also from fruit and potatoes/rice) as this is highly inflammatory for endo. I read a lot about this 'blood type diet' for endometriosis and decided to give it a go. Instead of grains/cereals I can use any legume flour (green pea flour, chickpea flour, lentil flour or also quinoa and amaranth are good as they are gluten/wheat free). So I can make bread or cakes or pasta out of these flours. Which is not bad I guess. And still allowed to eat most veg, fish, meat, eggs (not fried), legumes.

Every blood type has a different diet and different ingredients that they should avoid. Mine is blood type 0 and I'm collecting info for that. Many women who tried this diet who suffer from endo said that it really helped with a reduction of it.

So, I'll try very hard to stick to it for 5-6 months. And see if it makes a difference! I'll keep you posted on this. Wish me luck! xxx

Hi Regina79, just wondering if you found your symptoms reduced when you cut out a lot of things? Did you feel worse before feeling better or did you feel better quite quickly for the change in diet? I’m also blood type O and have been researching diet changes for Endo but hadn’t heard of the blood type diet I’d been trying the low GI diet

Hi KkAnne,

well, I've only started this diet since 2 weeks now and not fully adhered to it. In the sense that I'm still eating some brown rice noodles twice a week, which is considered as sugar. And I had sweet potatoes too. But... I'm planning to cut these 2 foods out too in a week or so. Once my supplies end! :o So I have not seen much of a difference yet in my symptoms. I've also been to an Aqua Aerobics class last Wednesday and all my horrible painful symptoms flared up.. :( so I've been in pain for days. I hope that once I cut all the sugar out I will see some improvements. But I'll keep you posted on it.

Do you also eliminate all sugar with a GI diet?? xx
