Extreme burning pain after sex. Does anyone else experience this?

Just been diagnosed with endo via lap. Cystoscopy was clear. Ive had pain like this before during my fertile period even when we hadnt had sex so assumed pain after sex was purely coincidental timing wise as i never had pain during sex itself. Tonight was our 2nd time having sex since the lap. I already had some milder burning pain but we are trying for a baby so i took iburprofen and paracetamol and we had sex. I was sore during but figured it was because we hadnt had sex for a while (since the op). Then within half hour it felt like my urethra and lady bits were on fire. The pain increased so suddenly and became so severe i was screaming crying and shivering. Don't laugh (okay you can laugh a bit) but I felt like all i wanted was a dildo made of ice! And yet wierdly a heat pack on my area seemed to help somewhat. My hubby was gobsmacked and wanted to take me to hospital. In the end i had 60mg of codine in my system together with paracetamol and 800mg ibuprofen before i even began to feel any relief. I am also on amatriptaline since the surgery in an effort to get off the coedine but i totally fell off the wagon tonight. I since read that this can be caused by endo on outside of uterus by neck of womb being irritated by sex. Im suprised i never had this pain before however i guess maybe the fact the dr burt the endo during surgery has irritated the area more?! Who knows but im gutted i was hoping pain was going to improve after surgery not get worse.

Big big hugs. My painful sex has not improved much either but 11 months after excision surgery i am starting to see mild improvements.

Your symptoms sound possibly like vulvodynia or interstitial cystitis so may be worth googling around both of those. When i had similar symptoms mime was IC and I got it under control using anti histamines and stopping all toiletries in the shower and changimg to paraben SLES free ones and using organic sanity towels. There are also probiotics from optibac you could try that are supposed to help as surgery disrupts the microbiome balance, I never needed mine in the end as the burning symptom did ease, its been the internal pain that persisted more stubbornly.

Just a few ideas to try. Thinking of you Xx

Thank you. X wouldnt vulvodyna and the cystitis have come up in cystoscopy and hysteroscopy which i also had? Consultant said inside of my womb and my bladder are both clear.

Not necessarily, they are different conditions which may coexist but dont cause implants like endo. I had mild IC but the cystoscopy showed nothing. But I found antihistamine and zero toiletries treatment worked for the burny pain. My excision resolved my other bladder issues so my endo (2 minor plaques on outside of bladder) probably played more of a role in my bladder specific symptoms tham originally thought. My personal theory is that the action of sex causes some residual toiletry chemicals to get inside triggering an allergic type reaction.

Oh noo :(

I get this sometimes randomly, then figured it out; it can be quite simply if you've washed with different soap, or he has, or if either of you have perfume / aftershave, or it's a bit rough and bacteria went up the urethra or you've washed underwear in something different. I can't wear any scented things there, we wash underwear in non bio (as the enzymes in bio make me burn) and if he's used any scented soaps / aftershave there it kills too; stings / burns / like it's on fire / and won't go away.

It may not be the above either if you can't figure out what it is perhaps go slowly next time, see what's causing it, and where it starts from, explore a little then make notes, like an experiment. You need to get it checked if it carries on but usually docs want to know what's causing it, where it starts, when it starts, does your partner have any problems over the next few days...all that.

I had all in one go a deep pain from my endo, a kind of sharp raw pain from my cervical ectropion (sensitive cells above cervix appear below), a little itchy (like a cross between needing it and a midgy bite) from the start of thrush and a burning later from the aftershave he'd used that down there was sensitive to. OMG I know how you feel!
