Had a Review of laparoscopy.. options are contraception or baby.

So I had a call this morning from my endo nurse to talk about what they did in my surgery. They removed endometriomas, all the endometriosis, some scare tissue and now everything looks great in there. My tubes etc have not been changed or effected everything is up and running nicely

It was ‘have a baby now whilst your clear’ or if you aren’t ready she suggested I go on the coil which isn’t for me due to bladder issues I have with an on going chronic infection. So then suggested the pill which I was on for years before any endo symptoms happened so I’m fine with that. My zolodex last injection will run out in 2 weeks technically but will still be in my system I can then go on the pill after that she suggested for 3 months straight

I’m not ready for a baby at 27 even if I’m married I just feel too young for a child , I need time and I need a damn holiday after all of this surgery and nightmare of a year since October!

What’s everyone’s experience with the pill and this? Relief

A lot to take in anyway my heads spinning

Hey, I avoid the pill like the plague but really for 2 reasons, I have a thyroid problem so my hormones are already all kinds of messed up and secondly, every type I’ve taken has made me feel like a lump of lead, caused my bum and belly to ballon and given me comically large breasts. That being said, if you are ok on the pill, I don’t think that there should be a problem and I seem to remember something about it staving off endometriosis. Essentially it’s probably a good idea if you don’t want to have children now and it agrees with you.

Hi Kate

I'm so pleased to hear you have some answers.

Take your holiday and some time to think about you. When you have a clearer head you will be able to decide what is best for you. You can always speak to your doctor about things at a later date.

It was excision by a specialist at a BSGE centre :)

I think she said about the baby thing because I’m married, young and because at the moment I have clean bill so it would be a perfect time to conceive.. but at 27 with lots of choices and ambitions and things I want to do I just aren’t ready for that.

She said by going on the pill it should suppress it and suggested I go on the pill for 3 months at a time so less periods also.

It can be difficult to decide what to do but if I have a baby because ‘I should have one and it’s the best time’ I’m going to end up resenting that baby for not be able to do the things I dreamt of

I’m seriously worried about this coming back and I’m not ready for kids just yet but I definitely want them!! I would really love to be married first and boyfriend isn’t quite there yet I don’t think, but it’s been talked about!

It’s another question I need to raise when I have my follow up appointment next Friday :( this plus anxiety isn’t fun! X

Don’t feel pressured to have a baby. One gynae told me to have a kid and that will stop my pain for 9 months and I’m 19 so definitely not ready haha.

I have bad experience with contraceptive pills but my body doesn’t like being messed with so everyone is different. You definitely deserve a holiday to relax so maybe try the pill again for now until you’re ready to have a baby xx
