Why constant bleeding?

Hi ladies,

A lot of us complain about heavy or very prolonged (from a few weeks to constant) bleeding. I searched online and asked my GP but never found an answer - what is this blood? The endometrium lining should be gone in maximum 10 days of period, so what is this blood then? Does the lining constantly grow back and shed, grow back and shed? Is it because of a lot of estrogen?

I was on cerazette (was having only prolonged spotting) and did ultrasound, it showed very thin lining. But then they put me on combined pill and in 40 days the bleeding started and continued for 25 days. I'm back on cerazette now, had 3 days offperiod and now its back again. I honestly don't understand
