Hi? New here

Hi,

I'm not really sure if I should be here, not been diagnosed with Endo or anything.

A few months back (maybe 6-7?) I went to the doctors because of sever pain in my lower back, around the sacroiliac joint, to the point I could barely walk.

I mentioned, in passing, to the nurse that the pain got much worse during my period, and I had put it down to normal menstrual cramps. She went off to get the doctor, who checked my legs and back, manipulated my joint and all that, confirmed it was the sacroiliac joint and then gave me some pain killers.

Then he mentioned endometriosis. I never heard of it until then, and I kinda of just put it out of my mind.

But ever since then, every time I have a period and the pain starts up again, the word runs around in my head and I have a look online, and then dismiss the idea.

Honestly, the whole idea terrifies me. But it's that time of month again, my back has been killing for the past three days and today I started my period and all the other little things I have to contend with every month are starting up again.

I think I'm looking for some advise, and maybe to talk to people who actually have the condition and can tell me a little bit about what it's like and how it make you feel etc. Everything I'm reading is quite ambiguous, and there's nothing very clear about the symptoms and such. I just want some clarification I think.

Symptoms when on period:

Abdo cramps (cause difficulty walking and standing)

Lower back pain (Close to the spine, in the pelvic area) (cause difficulty walking and standing)

Bowel problems (constipation and loose stool, almost constant need to go/pressure, pain when going, pain when not ... just pain. )

Tiredness

Pulling sensation in outer area of lady parts

Constant feeling of needing to pee and nothing happening

I do have a milder form of the back pain when not on my period, and it comes and goes, rather than being constant, but not enough to impact my life, except when I'm due on.

Another thing (a bit TMI) my bowel movements are irregular when I'm not on my period, but when I'm on, or due to come on, they happen several times a day :/

Sorry for the TMI and info dump. It's late and I'm hurting, and feeling sorry for myself. Please advise/talk to me if you can :)

Your symptoms should be discussed with a gynaecologist. Does sound like endometriosis...

Hi I would recommend you go back to your GP and insist on seeing a gynaecologist. Your symptoms do sound like endometriosis, do not be fobbed off, you shouldn’t be struggling to walk or stand, this isn’t right! Nobody should be in pain. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Reading up on endo, and seeing that it could cause problems with fertility makes me very reluctant to get it confirmed.

I've already had scares from cervical cancer, and adding endo to the mix is frankly frightening. I want kids, always have, and the only reason I'm not a mother is due to circumstance.

I will be making an appointment with my GP, and I have downloaded and printed off a diary so that when I do go, I'll have everything recorded.

So, I went to my GP (different one from last time) and he told me bluntly that he's in two mind about what could be causing my low back pain.

I completely forgot my information and couldn't answer half of his questions due to lack of sleep. But he can't decide if it is endometriosis, or something else (V. interested in my mums arthritis :/) and has sent me to get an x-ray and some blood tests though.

Those will take about three weeks to get the results, and I'm to see him again.

Hi

Just don’t be fobbed off by docs as took me seven years to finally get diagnosed and try not to be scared of the diagnosis , yes it’s not great but there have been some great success stories on here for other ladies having children xx and some great surgeons that make it possible x stay positive x I’m 5 weeks post surgery and doing pretty well , still some sacroiliac joint pain but tis early days xx
