Better pain meds?

SufferingSilently9 profile image

I'm waiting on my diagnostic lap (24 days to go) and my pain is up and down. I have to have a hot water bottle constantly - even taking it to work now - and my pain meds are failing me most of the time (I'm on ponstan forte, naproxen and paracetamol plus my pill.)

I need something better for the pain especially early morning and evenings. At night I use Bengay rubbed into my stomach and back to make me drowsy but it makes me too sleepy to get me through work to use it in the day.

My gp is rubbish and won't prescribe me anything as they didn't believe I was in pain so I know I can't go back to him.

Should I just power through till my lap or is there otc medication i can buy or if anyone can recommend a way for me to get better meds from my doctor I'd appreciate that?

Many thanks

Xx

Sorry to hear this. I'm in a similar situation with pain daily and up and down with how severe. Also using a hot water bottle almost daily at work. Some days are agony and some just a dull ache. I'm on naproxen and paracetamol too but on the worst days they don't even take the edge off. Got mefenemic acid too but that doesn't help. On my period right now so the pain is excruciating. Outside of when I'm on my period as that's just constant pain, I find mornings and night the worst too. I hope you find something that works and any suggestions welcome

Hey try asking your doctor or nurse if you can try zapain and naproxen together they are quite a good combination together. Hope that helps xx

I’m waiting for my next surgery after diagnostic lap in Dec, be prepared for the pain to get worse afterwards, I have been given Zoladex injection last week which is meant to help but from reading my responses to my query the other day it scan take a few weeks to start working. Will keep you posted if it works x
