3 weeks post lap...belly incision oozing

Can anyone advise me...? I’m 3 weeks post lap surgery and had my incisions glued together. When the glue came off around a week ago the incisions appeared very clean and almost unnoticeable. 3 weeks on and my belly wound is now oozing...😳 it doesn’t have any sort of smell and smells very clean but it does look slightly yellowish in colour. It’s slightly sore, it isn’t red, hot to touch. I don’t see my consultant until March. Reluctant to spend a day attempting to get hold of my surgery if it’s all part of the healing process. Has anyone experienced similar? Tia xx

Hey MissyTx

I was exactly the same. Get to the doctor to get some Antibiotics or something to make sure that there is not an infection there. Mine cleared up but took ages to bond together without oozing. My op was in November and I still get a little bit of oozing.

Just make sure you get something if it’s all red round about.

Good luck xx

Thanks lovely, reassuring to know I’m not the only oozy one! I’ll make an appointment :) I think sometimes we take for granted how intrusive the surgery is don’t we, good luck with your recovery xx

Haha!!! No your not the oozy one out there 😂😂

It’s just realising that it takes time to heal but your health is most important thing you have so take it totes easy and go with the flow!!

Hope that all is well in the future for you. Have they said if your going to be getting further treatment?? I started Prostap

Last week and got a period this morning. This is not fun!! Back to being bed ridden again xx

Hi Lou, awww you poor thing. Sounds like you are having a seriously rough ride! Periods are horrendous especially straight after surgery. The things we go through eh! I hope you too are taking it easy xx

Hi Tia, I too am 3 weeks post op today. Hope you are recovering ok 🙂

I am currently taking a course of antibiotics for infected incisions. I had glue and all was fine until 9 days after my op. My belly button was weeping a watery yellowy brown colour, no redness, no smell, no temp, e.t.c I saw the nurse, she said everything was ok. A week later I saw the nurse again, she removed the glue from my belly button and underneath it was still weeping clear/ yellow, again she said everything was fine.

However, the day after it was oozing a yellow/ green substance and smelly - infected. It has been dressed using silver and a course of antis. Please get it checked out. Mine looked fine and they said the watery discharge was normal, but it very quickly became infected.

Sorry for the long post

Hope this helps x

Thank you! So grateful for all of the replies, well I called my Gp and they have given me a 7 day course of antibiotics which I have now had 24 hours of....I am however dubious as to whether they are working. I know it’s only been 24 hours and maybe it could improve but my belly has now started bleeding (only a little) and feels more sore...how long did it take for the antibiotcs to eventually kick in?

Thanks lovely, hope you are also feeling ok xx
