Finally got a lap date

After waiting so long I now have a date for my lap. Next thurs! It is my first one so I’m very nervous. Any tips on what to take in with me and how much time off work? Thanks

Great news!

The time you will need of will depend whether it’s just a diagnostic lap or you have treatment.

My GP said 1 week off if if was just a diagnostic but as I had endo treated she signed me off for a further 2 weeks.

Obviously it will depend on your job and how soon you recover. Everyone is different - no set rules!

My advise is to take it easy for first couple of days - just rest. Get some easy meals in. Sleep as often as you need. You will feel pretty tired this is normal.

You will have shoulder pain- this is caused by the gas they inflate you with during the lap. Some women have cramps and bleed afterwards- have painkillers ready and use towels not tampons.

. I had to get my nurse at drs to remove my stitches as they didn’t dissolve. Keep a close on the wounds- if they look red or weepy see a nurse ASAP.
