Help! Problems 5 months after Coil removed.

Hi everyone. I had the coil removed in July after only 4 months due to awful side affects (depression, irritability, swollen stomach and major migraines)...

But now my periods are even heavier than before I had the coil! My breasts start swelling and go up at list two sizes two months of the week and I get a migraine just before my period every month. It's a nightmare!

Consultant wants to just "turn me off" (his words)... but why are my problems worse than before?

Anyone else had this?

(Consultant reckons hes no idea what's wrong with me but considering a hysterectomy too... I'm only 37 😣)

Hi Helly0000,

I am sorry to hear that you are suffering.

I had a bad time with the coil and had it removed after 3 months also. After that I was bleeding non stop for a year along with other symptoms. I too was having a difficult time with my consultant so I asked my GP for a referral to another consultant at a BGSE center so that I had a second opinion; bsge.org.uk/endometriosis-c.... I now have a consultant team who are very supportive.

Best wishes,

M Mary, Endometriosis UK

Thanks so much for your reply. I just wish I'd been warned about the coil before I had it put in. Surgeon suggested it 30 minutes before lap so I felt that I couldn't say no 😣

I think I'm just getting to the point where I'm like "this is what your life is like"... and I'll just have to deal with it... 😣

Thanks Again

Hi, sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time. However I doubt it’s due to the coil. I would have thought it’s more likely that the disease is simply progressing. This can happen even with the coil as it’s only a low dose of hormone. I guess this is why your consultant is talking about an oestrogen blocker.

Sounds like you may need to consider all the options. Good luck!
