Hi I had my op 5 weeks ago now and have noticed that my stitches haven't yet dissolved I'm not sure if it's supposed to take a while or not I've had to trim them down because they were so long

Mine were apparently dissolvable but I went to the walk in centre after 2 weeks to have them removed

I'm 2 months post op and one incision still has a tiny bit of stitch hanging on. I pulled off the big chunk but there's a tiny one poking out still. Sometimes the body rejects them and they tend to just fall out on their own.

If it's becoming a problem and you aren't sure how to take care of it, see your doctor and they may be able to help.

I've had to have disolvable stitches removed in the past. There is an enzyme in your skin which causes the stitch to dissolve and sometimes the stitch isn't in enough contact with your body to do this. Don't worry about it, the nurse at your local GP practice will whip them out in no time. 😊

Your gp or a nurse there will remove them.

I've heard they take ages to dissolve and most people end up getting them removed? Mine didn't last that long though!

I had diagnostic lap 2 weeks ago and after 4 days one of the stitches snapped and fell out! I panicked and called 111 and a nurse said it's fine because we have internal stitiches as well, the external one is just to keep the wound closed and external healing only takes a few days.

With my other 2, they were starting to come out as well, the knots were unravelling, so 1 week post op I unpicked the knots myself with tweezers and very easily removed them, no scissors required!

There is no need to have them in a couple of weeks nevermind months x

Mines took a couple month hun. I did notice when I started taking serrapeptase that my stitches dissolved fell off. It's an enzyme that eats away at fibrins and mucous in our bodies also helps with inflammation pain and stops scar tissue from forming after ops good idea to take after an op I'm glad I found it I managed to clear my tubes with it.

If your finding them irritating go to docs and book in with nurse they'll remove them for you 😘

Hi if they are still present after 2 weeks go get them removed that was the advice I was given mine were not soluble, I had them out this week which was just over two weeks.

Best Wishes

A x
