How long do dissolvable stitches take to dissolve?

Please ignore the sticky remains of the plasters I’ve had on my belly!!

I am 2 weeks post op and have never had stitches before so I’m clueless! Can anyone tell me when they should begin to dissolve? I was told 1-2 weeks but my stitches are still the same as they were the day I came out of hospital! The knot is still completely there (I don’t think the pic is very helpful).

This might be normal but I’m clueless and I am trying to avoid my GP because they’ve been a waste of time lately 😒😒

it looks nice and clean so that's good :)

When I asked about mine, went to my gp at 16ish days as I was worried, I was told it takes about 3 weeks ish. mine fell out the next day! I did pull it a little and the knot came out.

Give it a bit longer, if it's bothering you though put a small plaster on to stop it catching on stuff. When it does fall out it'll look like a tiny piercing hole!

I’ve read when some people have had dissolvable stitches they haven’t dissolved and they’ve had to have them removed! I’ll give it another week or so and see my GP if they don’t begin to dissolve xxx

My last two stitches actually came out today, I had my lap on 11th May, so about 4 1/2 weeks for me, but everyone heals differently x

Mine took around 3 weeks to notice any difference, and about 4 weeks before they were gone xx

Mine are still in and I had my lap nearly three weeks ago. My son had stitches last year that took about 10 weeks to come out, try bathing with Epsom salts and coconut oil xx

Hi

Sometimes dissolvable stitches can take 2-3 months to completely dissolve however if they are causing discomfort they can be taken out easily x
