Hi everyone, I am a 22 year old with endometriosis. I was a little surprised after my lap yesterday to find out that not only had my endo been treated but my appendix was also swollen so this was taken out too! I can't help but think that my tiredness and pain became such a blur that my appendix would have gone unnoticed. I had no idea until I woke up! I am still learning about endo but I can only think that this may be down to my pelvis area being enflamed? Has anyone else had issues with their appendix and endo? Xxx

Endo and appendicitis
Hi Char11,
I had severe stomach pain back in 2015 and got admitted with suspected appendicitis. Instead of scanning me the day after I was admitted, the surgeon was so sure that my appendix was the problem that I quickly got taken to surgery.
I woke up to be told that my appendix had been removed but that it was fine. Other things that were noted were that I had a burst cyst and a tear in my bowel. My experience wasn't a good one as I had to write a letter of complaint in order to find all of that out... I was kept in hospital for 4 days as they couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong with me.
This year I had similar pain (on my left side this time), and after investigations being done including a MRI which showed up endo on my left side... I'm now wondering if that was the problem all along with my right side.
I'm awaiting a diagnostic lap at the moment to find out what is there and decide on the way forward.
Take care xxx
Hey, I had appendicitis about 18 months before they diagnosed me with endo. It took 5 months to get it, I had about 5 other diagnoses before they did and 3 hospital trips! There was no mention of endometriosis when they went in for the appendix (finally!) but then in less than 2 years I became "riddled" with endo. I never got over the appendix pain though once t was out, although it felt different I was still getting pain which I had never had before my appendectomy. It's probably unlikely but it seems like it's linked, or one triggered the other maybe. I don't know. But I haven't been the same since my appendix started flaring up.
Hi,
I have an issue with my appendix too apparently. Had my first lap recently and the surgeon said he found and lasered a small patch of endo under my left ovary but he also found that my appendix was "stuck" (he confirmed it was an adhesion when I asked) but that this wasn't related to the endo and will have been caused by chronic inflammation.
I've not had my follow up yet so I will ask more when I'm there but it's very odd. I didn't know there was anything up with my appendix, I've had some right side pain like an elastic band but much higher up - he said the appendix will have caused this. It's possible that my pain perception is a bit iffy because I might be autistic (another long diagnostic procedure I'm slogging through!) so maybe I should have felt something with my appendix??
I'll update you when I've had my follow up and know more.
Hey I’m 21 and I have endometriosis. I know this is an old post but I’m hoping you may respond. I’ve been suffering with severe abdominal pain since November 4th.
Turns out my gallbladder was bad, had that taken out. I have worsening symptoms pointing to appendicitis but no one was listening due to normal CT scans.
Finally am having another lap for an appendectomy and to search for more endo to remove. I’m glad I’m not the only one with this weird case. Or perhaps it’s more common than I think.
