I’m just wondering if anyone has been told they have appendicitis but it turns out to be endometriosis?
I suffered severe pain on my right side and I was told it was my appendix. I then got sent for an ultrasound which they realised my appendix was fine but I had a cyst and the person carrying out the ultrasound also asked if I had been diagnosed with IBS as he could see something that suggested that. I got sent home with painkillers.
Just wondering has anyone else been through a similar thing?

I’m actually getting my appendix removed soon and I have endometriosis soon. I’ve had the classic appendicitis symptoms but was dismissed due to normal CT scans. But I finally got them to listen and they’re going to take it out and look for more endo/adhesions.
I was pushed around by many doctors thinking I was drug seeking/psychotic or just IBS. But I persisted and now they’re listening.
I feel like that has happened to me, it’s been going on for a year and a half, been tested for everything. Got nothing back and I’ve still not been given any answers to what has caused the pain. I’m visiting a gynaecologist tomorrow and I’m going to push to be checked for it!
I had a similar thing back in September. I was rushed off to hospital with suspected appendix rupture. Had all the tests came back clear, ultrasound clear. Carried on being in agony on right side lower pelvis and lower back, after 2 months of going back and fourth from the doctors complaining finally got referred to gyno in November. I have now been offered to have a laparoscopy in the new year as they believe I have endo. Going to try different pills first. Hope you find your answer.
I have just come out of hospital as I was having severe pelvic pain which they thought was appendix. Went and had the ultrasound scan and they found a large fibroid about size of the lime. However my periods have been excruciating and now they think that in actual fact I have endometriosis I was also diagnosed as having IBS when I was just 16 as I was constantly having tummy pain!
I can really relate to your story! My cyst was only 4cm which they said didn’t need anything doing to it but ended up back in hospital two days later is absolute agony. Have you seen a gynaecologist about it?
Hi yes today, it is 4.7cm and located in the womb muscle. The gynaecologist told me today that he does not want to remove it because it could cause more harm than good. And that the first port of call is to do the lap to see if he can remove any tissues? Do you have endometriosis as well as your fibroid?
I haven’t been diagnosed with anything! I’ve had pain for over a year and a half and I’m still no further to having a diagnosis. I’ve seen a gynaecologist who referred me to physio which didn’t help at all and I’ve got a gynaecologist appointment tomorrow with a different doctor so I’m hoping that I can push for a lap through him! Fingers crossed!
When I was in hospital they said that they was sure it was appendicitis and I got sent for an ultrasound which actually showed that I had a 4cm cyst in my right ovary, (appendix was fine) they then told me I would get sent to the women’s ward to see a gynaecologist. The next thing I know the gynaecologist comes to me in the other department, tells me that Its only a 4cm cyst and sent me home with painkillers. Ended up in hospital two days later in agony to be told that in had an infection because there was Old smelling blood when they examined me(sorry about to much information) gave me two weeks of antibiotics and sent me home
I went hospital with suspected appendix the scan came back fine they sent me home. I collapsed at college two days later got rushed in theatre my appendix were infected from endo adhesions but not ruptured hence it didn’t show on the scan. I ended up in hospital for 17 days though really really poorly!!
Stand up for yourself you know your body if you don’t feel right get yourself back there and don’t leave until you’re satisfied.
This is what happened to me just over a week ago, went to A&E with severe pain and vomiting, doctors thought it could be appendicitis. My ultrasound found I had a 9cm cyst on my right ovary. Had a lap to remove it and that's when they found I had endometriosis.
